VISION
Empowering the imagination.
The OCAD Library empowers the
imagination and leads the university
community in the creation, discovery and
sharing of knowledge.
MISSION
The OCAD Library nurtures a learning
ecology extending beyond the classroom
and studio, where everyone can engage in
historical, critical and scientific inquiry,
research, lifelong learning, and the
celebration of creativity, experimentation
and innovation.

  • 2. VISION Empowering the imagination. The OCAD Library empowers the imagination and leads the university community in the creation, discovery and sharing of knowledge.
  • 3. MISSION The OCAD Library nurtures a learning ecology extending beyond the classroom and studio, where everyone can engage in historical, critical and scientific inquiry, research, lifelong learning, and the celebration of creativity, experimentation and innovation.
  • 4. OBJECTIVES #1 To enhance the LEARNING EXPERIENCE of undergraduate and graduate students.
  • 5. OBJECTIVES #2 To partner with faculty and academic colleagues in the development of a campus-wide LEARNING STRATEGY.
  • 6. OBJECTIVES #3 To develop specialized COLLECTIONS and LEARNING OBJECTS that inform and inspire learners, educators, innovators, entrepreneurs, cultural leaders, strategists, and creative thinkers.
  • 7. OBJECTIVES #4 To collaborate with academic colleagues in the development of INTEGRATED SYSTEMS & TOOLS to facilitate access to information, resources and services in support of teaching, learning and research.
  • 8. OBJECTIVES #5 To plan INNOVATIVE NEW FACILITIES, and to ESTABLISH STAFFING LEVELS and PROCESSES to enable teaching, learning and research.
  • 9. STRATEGIES Objective #1 – To enhance the Learning Experience of undergraduate and graduate students. – Involve Students – Establish a New Service Model – Engage with the Community – Deliver Innovative Programming

STRATEGIES Objective #2 – To partner with faculty and academic colleagues in the development of a campus-wide Learning Strategy. – Reshape Professional Identification of Librarians as Educators – Engage in Intellectual and Creative Life of the University and Beyond – Participate in Curricular Planning – Develop in Information Literacy Programs

STRATEGIES Objective #3 – To develop specialized Collections and Learning Objects that inform and inspire learners, educators, innovators, entrepreneurs, cultural leaders, strategists, and creative thinkers. – Establish Internal Processes – Establish External Partnerships – Grow Print Collections – Preserve Legacy Collections – Create & Liberate Content – Create Learning Objects
