Reduction
Using TOC, Lean and Six Sigma Techniques
4th - 5th June 2009 • New Delhi
Programme Director
Prof. A. N. Singh
In order to survive and grow in the current global
recession scenario, the most important challenge for every
company is to reduce cost while maintaining desired
quality. Incidentally during the last decade quality issue
has been well addressed by Indian organizations and most
of the companies are successfully implementing Quality
Management. The focus of the companies should now be
on Cost Management.
Several traditional methods of cost reduction are currently
being used. Most of them focus on reduction on
purchases, cutting down training expenses, laying-off
people, stopping technological up-gradation of machines
and processes, etc. Such cost cutting measures become
counter productive when demand revives and companies
lose business when opportunity arrives.
These cost cutting measures are not sustainable and no
longer relevant because generally they attack on some
2. visible symptoms. However, in order to have effective and
sustainable cost reduction you have to eliminate the “root-
causes” resulting in higher cost, which are mostly
invisible.
Effective cost reduction involves four major activities:
detection of root cause, developing solutions,
implementing solutions and sustaining the effect.
No single tool can address all four aspects of cost
management. You need an integrated solution.
We are pleased to offer a unique methodology of “Radical
Cost Reduction” developed by benchmarking and
synergistically blending the following three most powerful
management techniques of the world to address
comprehensive cost management solution in the quickest
possible way:
Theory of Constraints: Every system always has a
constraint. Constraint is defined as the visible or hidden
problem that stops your organization to make more profit.
Unless constraint is discovered and resolved you can’t
reduce cost.
Lean: Cost is adversely impacted by seven deadly wastes
generated in the value stream. These wastes must be
identified & eliminated using lean tools.
Six Sigma: Cost reduction projects must be managed in
effective and time bound manner using the Six Sigma -
Five Phase problem solving technique through application
of statistical and lean tools.
The Two-day comprehensive management
development programme is especially designed for
busy senior management personnel who are playing
leading role in improving cost leadership.
