Good morning. My name is Justin Notario and today we will be going over an introduction to Weebly.
First you will need to go out to www.weebly.com in order to get started. You will need to be on a computer with an internet connection in order to do this.
Once you click “Sign Up” on the main screen, you will be taken to this screen. You can sign up several different ways. If you have Facebook or Google+ you may sign up using them and if not, just fill in the three boxes on the right side. Once you fill in the correct information, click “Sign Up Free” If you already have an account, you may ignore all of the above, and just click the appropriate link to log in.
You can choose what type of website you would like to create. For this example, click on “Site” to create a normal webpage.
Weebly offers different themes for you to choose from. Each one is a little different and has a unique appearance. You can change this later if you do not like your initial choice. Please scroll through the list and select the one you would like to use for your webpage.
The great thing about Weebly is that you can create a website that will become live to anyone who has the link for it, and it can be accessed on any computer or device with an internet connection. If you decide you ever want to pay to create your own domain, you can use the bottom two options, but for the time being, we will create a free page on the weebly domain. All you have to do is come up with a unique name for your page and type it in the “Subdomain of Weebly.com” box and then click “Continue”. If the name is already taken, you will have to try another name. Once you click on continue, it will take you to the website editor.
This is the website editor, and I broke it down into 3 main areas I would like to talk about real briefly. The picture on the left shows the different pieces you can add to your website. Once you find one you would like to add, you click, drag, and then drop in the white area below the main picture of the page. I will show a demo of several of these in just a few moments. The top picture is the menus. Build allows you to add different components to your website such as text or images. Design allows you to alter colors of items or change your theme. Be careful if you change a theme here as it could alter the appearance of some of the work you have already finished. Pages allows you to add new pages to your website. Currently in this example, we have a home, about and contact page. Store allows you to add an actual store to your page if you would have items to sell, for example. Lastly, settings allows you to change certain settings on your webpage. Keep in mind, we have a free account, so certain items we will not have access too. The main image here shows us what our webpage currently looks like, and as we add things, we will be able to see the changes we make.
Once you create your website and are happy with the finished product, you can click on “publish” in the top right corner. This will publish the website to the link you chose in an earlier step. You can now view your finished website by going to that link. If you decide you want to make any further changes, you can log back into your account and go back into the editor and make changes as needed.
