2. Joshua & Caleb
• They made it to the Promised Land
because they believed the promises of
God
• We too will make it to the land that
God has promised us if we will believe
the promise
• Believe the Promise!
3. God’s Promise Today:
Isaiah 2:2-3 Now it shall come to pass in
the latter days that the mountain of the
Lord's house shall be established on the
top of the mountains, and shall be exalted
above the hills; And all nations shall flow
to it (verse 2).
4. God’s Promise Today:
Isaiah 2:2-3 Many people shall come and
say, "Come, and let us go up to the
mountain of the Lord,To the house of the
God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways,
And we shall walk in His paths." For out
of Zion shall go forth the law, and the
word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
5. God’s Promise Today:
• This promise has a primary
fulfillment in Israel and Jerusalem;
• But it has an eternal and universal
fulfillment in the Body of Christ.
6. What is Zion?
Hebrews 12:22-24 But you have come to
Mount Zion and to the city of the living
God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an
innumerable company of angels, to the
general assembly and church of the first
born who are registered in heaven, to
God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just
men made perfect, . . .
7. What is Zion?
Hebrews 12:22-24 . . . to Jesus the
Mediator of the new covenant, and to the
blood of sprinkling that speaks better
things than that of Abel.
8. Models of God’s Rule
in Human Systems
in Human Systems
• The Model of Joseph in Egypt;
• The Model of Daniel in Babylon;
• The Model of David in Israel;
• The Model of Esther in Persia;
• The Model of Moses in Egypt.
9. The Moses Model
• Moses lived three “lives”
• His life in Egypt for 40 years,
• His life in Midian for 40 years,
• His life delivering the Hebrews for a
further 40 years.
10. Moses in Egypt
• Moses’ birth and growth (Acts 7:17-
22)
• Born to fulfill destiny (verse 20) “At
this time Moses was born . . .”
• Received the best Egyptian education
(verse 22) “He was learned in all the
wisdom of the Egyptians . . .”
11. Moses in Egypt
• Moses’ career in Egypt (verse 22) He
was mighty in word and deed.
• Moses’ education and career in Egypt
was to equip him for his future
leadership of the Hebrews.
• Nevertheless, if he died at 40, we
would have made powerful speeches
at his burial!
12. Moses in Egypt
• The Searching Question:
• “If Moses died at 40, would he have
fulfilled God’s calling upon his life?
Would he have fulfilled the reason
why God created him?
• No!
• If you died now (God forbid) . . .
13. Moses in Midian
• The MidianTransition:
Hebrews 11:24-27 By faith Moses,
when he became of age, refused to be
called the son of Pharaoh's daughter,
choosing rather to suffer affliction
with the people of God than to enjoy
the passing pleasures of sin, . . .
14. Moses in Midian
• The MidianTransition:
Hebrews 11:24-27 . . . esteeming the
reproach of Christ greater riches than
the treasures in Egypt; for he looked
to the reward. By faith he forsook
Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the
king; for he endured as seeing Him
who is invisible.
15. Moses in Midian
• The MidianTransition is a spiritual
transition. It is to do our priorities
and our values as believers. Have we
fully surrendered to God?
• We too must undertake the Midian
Transition!
• Have you yet undertaken the Midian
Transition?
16. Moses in Midian
• Moses’ first divine encounter on
arrival in Midian, when he was at
crossroads. He sat at the well . . .
• In a single divine encounter God
provided him with a home, a job and a
wife!
• May the Lord bless us with such divine
encounters as we surrender to Him!
17. Moses in Midian
• In Midian Moses learnt to wait on God
in prayer and meditation on His word.
As a shepherd he had time.
• In Egypt he had been too busy! He
had been busy enjoying success.
• May the Lord help us to change our
Egyptian environment. To make time to wait
on God.To study the Bible & pray!
18. Moses in Midian
• In Midian Moses got married and raised
a family.Wife: Zipporah; Sons: Gershom
and Eliezer Ex 18:2-4
• In Midian he learnt shepherding. He
needed this to lead people.
• In Midian Moses reached the peak of
His walk with God. He got to the peak
of the Mountain of God.
19. Moses in Midian
• With Moses at 80, God had at last
completed his foundational training.
God was now ready to deploy him.
• For Joseph it was 30 years.
• For David it was also 30 years.
• Again if Moses died at 80, we would
have made great speeches at his burial:
His education, career, family, and his
powerful walk with God!
20. Moses in Midian
• The Searching Question:
• “If Moses died at 80, would he have
fulfilled God’s calling upon his life?
Would he have fulfilled the reason
why God created him?”
• No!
• If you died now (God forbid) . . .
21. Moses in Midian
• TheTransition at God’s Mountain:
• “Come now, therefore, and I will send
you to Pharaoh that you may bring
My people, the children of Israel, out
of Egypt.” (Exodus 3:10)
• This was Moses’ finest hour. All the
education and career training of the
previous 80 years was designed for
this very hour.
22. Moses in Midian
• Your personal transition at God’s
Mountain:
• God has a reason why you are hearing
this word. He is calling you to His
Mountain to wait on Him concerning
your purpose in life.
• Give God time in the next few
months. It may be time to reposition
your life and career.
23. Moses Back to Egypt
• He battles the wickedness of Pharaoh
and the Egyptian system to release
the Hebrews from bondage.
• You too are called as a deliverer!
• All nature is waiting for the sons of
God to deliver it from the bondage of
corruption. Uganda & Africa are
waiting! (Romans 8:19-21)
24. The Call of God onYour
Life at thisTime
For the earnest expectation of the creation
eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of
God. For the creation was subjected to futility,
not willingly, but because of Him who
subjected it in hope; because the creation
itself also will be delivered from the bondage
of corruption into the glorious liberty of the
children of God. (Romans 8:19-21)
25. The Rod of Moses vs
The Rod of God
The Rod of GodWhat was Moses’ rod? His shepherd’s stick to
defend and shepherd his sheep.
The tool of your trade whose use you have
mastered. You are now highly skilled in its use.
For David it was the sling, and then the harp.
26. The Rod of Moses vs
The Rod of God
The Rod of God• God wants you to throw it down! Release it
and surrender it to Him.Then He will begin
to use it to perform wonders.
• Un-surrendered, it is a serpent that could
kill, both you and other people.
• Surrendered, it now becomes God’s rod in
your hand. It will perform wonders!
