Der Weiterbildungsstudiengang MAS in Cardiovascular Perfusion wurde entwickelt, um der Ausbildung zur Fachperson Cardiovascular Perfusion (CP) einen annerkannten Hochschulabschluss zu ermöglichen. Neben dem Bedarf an vertieftem Fachwissen geht der Trend hin zu minimal-invasiven Verfahren. Dies verändert das technische Umfeld, die Anforderungen und den Patientenbezug laufend. Der Studiengang ist so konzipiert, dass er mit dem Certificate of Accreditation den Anforderungen des European Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (EBCP) entspricht.

1953 führte John Heysham Gibbon die erste erfolgreiche
Operation am offenen Herzen mit kardiopulmonalem
Bypass durch.
In der Folge gaben die Herzchirurgen ihr Wissen an
interessierte Pflegekräfte weiter, sodass der Aufbau der
Herzchirurgie möglich wurde.
Heute ist dieses Wissen von Ärzten nicht mehr lehrbar,
weil nicht mehr vorhanden. Die Technik hat parallel zur
Medizin einen derartigen Quantensprung vollbracht.
