Management Projects contract under “FIDIC”:
Job Duties
1. To manage the project objectives, costs and progress and advise the
Project Director of any changes to the project brief, budgets or program.
2. To advise the Project Director if any financial, managerial and other
resources are required for the project.
3. To advise the Project Director of all decisions and actions required from
him or the Project Promoter/Employer, preferably giving dates related to
the program for design, construction and take-over.
4. To assist the Project Director to appoint the Project team, define their
authority and responsibilities as well as all involved parties. To keep these
appointments under review.
5. To motivate the Project Team.
6. To develop the knowledge and skills of the Project team.
7. To instruct the Project Team on the project brief.
8. To maintain the construction control system under review and to make
required changes to achieve the project objectives.
9. To report to the Project Director on the progress, cost, quality and
predicted results of the construction, at intervals specified by the Project
Director.
10.To maintain the project information system, particularly on project design,
specifications and tests, budgets, costs, programs, progress, predictions
and decisions on problems, decisions on changes and drivers of
decisions.
11.To manage the construction phase of the assigned projects to the fullest
detail.
12.To ensure quality of all materials brought to site.
13.To monitor the Contractor activities daily, chair weekly progress meetings.
14.To prepare minutes of meeting.
15.To write monthly reports.
16.To review and approve interim payment certificates.
17.To review planning and overall project program schedule, ensure
contractor work is on schedule and performing works in accordance with
the specifications for all the various trades.
18.To ensure that permanent executed works are free of defects.
19.To implement repairs in accordance with approved procedures for the
Engineer.
20.To liaise with home office, client and governmental agencies to maintain
work progress.
21.To prepare replies to claims when requested and offer all assistance for
project access.
22.To perform other duties as assigned by the upper-line of authority within
the scope of qualifications.
23.To fully coordinate with the contract administration.
5. Scope of authority
1. To approve payment requests, initiate change order, instruct project team
and approve completion certificates.
2. To issue changes to the project brief, if authorized by the Project Director
or if in the opinion of the Project Director an emergency requires a change
before the owner can be consulted.
3. To approve shop drawings.
4. To approve material submittals in charge of ensuring inspections and
casting structural concrete and architectural elements.
5. To approve site clarification requests.
6. To issue change orders approved by client.
