2. Introduction
• I created a survey to get ideas about what people want and
don't want in a popular magazine. I decided to create two
surveys; one of which i printed off and gave to people in my
local area. I created as second survey to distribute online.
• I used the website freeonlinesuvery.com to create a survey and
decided to use twitter, my blog and facebook to share my work
with people.
3. Gender
I surveyed 9 males and 7
females which was
around the same amount
of each gender allowing
me to get perspective of
what each gender
thought
4. Age
• My main target group was
teenagers between the age
12 - 20 year olds; as they
are my target audience.
• However i also asked other
age groups to ensure i got a
broader perspective and
suggestions that i could
cover in my magazine.
5. Who is your favorite band/artist?
•I decided not to show the results for
this question as there was to much
diversity.
• Every person who completed my
questionnaire answered the differently.
This meant there was no clear
indication to one ultimate favorite.
6. How often do you buy a music
magazine?
From these results I found that
most people never or sometimes
purchased a music magazine.
Following my analysis I believe
that to entice the audience to
buy my magazine on a regular
basis I needed to include
information on what customers
can expect in the next issue.
7. Do you subscribe to any music
magazines?
• My results found that no
one subscribed to music
magazines.
• From these results i have
decided that my magazine
will not need a subscription
8. How much would you spend on a
music magazine?
My results found that most
people wouldn't spend over
£2.49 on a magazine.
I decided to price my magazine
at £2.50, as it will still allow
me to make a profit and be
affordable to the customer.
9. What is your favorite genre of
music?
My next question was asking
people what their favorite
genre was.
I found that most people’s
favourite genre was ‘Pop’
which was then followed by
‘Rock’,
My magazine will focus on pop
genre.
10. In three words what would you
associate a pop magazine with?
• Again i decided not to show the results from this
question, as there were varying responses.
• I was able to identify a number words that were
frequently mentioned such as: colorful, fun and
celebrities.
• If I were to do the same survey again, I would have made
the audience more aware that I was going to use the
results for inspiration for the name of my magazine.
11. Are there any features of a magazine
or a music magazine which you
dislike?
• I only found one feature which came up more
than once during the survey, which was
advertisements.
• I understand that many customers may not
find ‘ads’ very appealing so I decided not to
include them in my magazine.
12. Would you pay more for a
magazine if there was a gift
included?
• My results found that most
people wouldn’t pay more
for magazine is a gift was
included.
• I will not be including a gift
in my magazine.
13. What colour would you associate a
music magazine with?
• From my results I found
that the colour people
associate pop magazines
with are red and blue.
• I will use red and blue
throughout my magazine to
meet the needs of my
target audience.
14. What draws you into buying a
music magazine?
• From my results I found
interviews were the most
desired part of a magazine,
so I have decided to use my
double page spread as an
interview article to satisfy
the customers demand.
15. How many pages would you like in a
music magazine?
Most of my results
showed people
wanted 31 - 110
pages, I decided to go
half way with 70,so
that I could include all
the content needed.
