Screencasting with CamStudio
1. Screencasting with CamStudio
This user manual will show you how to download, install, configure, and use CamStudio(along with
Microsoft PowerPoint) to create a screencast.
Requirements:
1. Headset
2. CamStudio 2.0 (Download from http://camstudio.org/)
3. Lossless Codec (Download from http://camstudio.org/)
4. Microsoft PowerPoint
Configure CamStudio:
1. Download and install CamStudio2.0 and the Lossless Codec from http://camstudio.org/
2. Plug your headset into your computer
3. Open CamStudio
2. 4. Click Options – Video Options and make your settings look like the following and then click OK:
3. 5. Click Options – Record audio from microphone
6. Click Options – Audio Options – Audio Options for Microphone and make your settings look like the
following, then click OK:
7. Click Options – Program Options – Minimize program on start recording
8. Click Options – Enable Autopan
9. Click Options – Keyboard Shortcuts and make your settings look like the following, then click OK:
4. 10. Click Region – Full Screen
11. You are now ready to start using CamStudio to create your own screencasts!
Make your screencast using a PowerPoint file:
1. Make sure your headset is plugged in, then start CamStudio
2. Open up your PowerPoint presentation
3. Open up CamStudio and make sure its window is selected
4. Hit F8 (to start recording)
5. Select the PowerPoint windows and run your presentation as a Slide Show (by default, in
PowerPoint, the keyboard shortcut for this is F5)
6. Deliver your presentation with audio narration
7. When finished, press F9 to stop recording
8. You will now be prompted to give you recording a file name and save it somewhere on your
computer
9. Navigate to the directory where you have saved your recoding, and open it to check whether it plays
back properly
10. Congratulations, you have just made a screencast!
