 Why are many of us not finding
fulfillment in ourmarriages? Is it
that we don’t know the basics of
marriage ormost of us enterinto
marriages unprepared? If you are
drawn by lust and the desire forsex,
I can assure you that marriage will
not last long.

 How have ourparents stayed
togetherin marriage formany years?
My own father-in-law stayed with my
mother-in-law for69 years in their
marriage and it is only death that
separated them. I have been married
now for36 years and I believe and
persuaded that only death would

 I believe that we can find fulfillment
in ourmarriages, when we
understand why we are married in
the first place and what God’s
purpose in ourmarriages is.

 Genesis 2:18-25
 GODsaid, "It's not goodfortheMan

companion." SoGODformedfromthe

thefieldandall thebirds of theair. He

 Marriage and the troubles that are
plaguing so many marriages these
days needs an answer. I am
compelled to reassure you that you
can experience fulfillment in
marriage.

 I amconvinced that God has fully
intended forus to experience
fulfillment, even awe, in our
marriages. It seems that every
indicatoris pointing in the opposite
direction but do you know that God
is in control of ourmarriage destiny
if we allowed Him to do so?

 The effects of failing marriages on
children, family, and friends are not
the real problem, they are mere
symptoms of the true problem. The
real problemis that couples who love
each otherearly on, do not understand
the purpose of marriage and are
therefore unable to experience the
fulfillment that God has purposed forMonday, September 16, 2013

 Foryou and me to experience
something more in ourmarriages we
must understand God's purpose for
marriage.

 This is such a rich portion of God's
Word. I love the word, "helper" that
is used in verse 18. I thinkit is
significant that out of all of the
words God could have used to
describe the relationship of the man
and woman, He used "helper."

 Words that reflect the deep meaning of
"helper"are:
 a. aide
 b. assistant
 c. colleague
 d. partner
 e. supporter
 f. ally."
 These are the words which best describe
the relationship of husbands and wives.

 We are to be ourmate's helper.
 Ouractions are to be helpful.
 Ourwords are to be helpful.
 Ourpresence should bring comfort and
security ratherthan anxiety and
bitterness.
 Ourlives should be a fragrant offering
of support to ourmate because we have
been called by God to be his orherMonday, September 16, 2013

 Almighty God in His infinite wisdom
has given me a helperto help me
seekto bring glory to His name. Isn't
that amazing! Isn't God good. He
knew that I could neverdo what I
needed to do on my own so He gave
me a woman afterHis own heart.

 God has given us responsibilities to
carry out as men and women,
husbands and wives, fathers and
mothers, and it is a blessing to have
someone close to workalongside of
us.

 But "Two arebetterthanone," says
Ecclesiastes, "Becausetheyhavea
goodrewardfortheirtoil. Forif they
fall, onewill lift theother." Marriage
makes the job of survival possible.
And the fact that a spouse is termed
a "helper"declares marriage was
neveran end in itself, but a

 God, in His infinite wisdomknew
that we needed help and He has
provided that help forus in ourmate
if we will only worktogether
according to the Almighty God's
plan.

 There is desperate need of men and
women of God who will choose to
seekto integrate into their marriages
God's plan formarriage.

 There is need to become a better
helperto yourmate and need to
worktogetherto bring glory to God’s
name.

 Ourmarriages need prayertoday like
they have neverneeded prayer
before.
 Allow God to take His rightful place
in yourmarriage.
 “Thinkas a man and woman but seek
the wisdom of God in all matters
particularly as pertains to marriage”.

 Do an evaluation of yourmarriage,
identifying strengths and weaknesses
in yourmarriage.
 Afterdoing the above exercise,
capitalize on yourstrengths and
make corrections on your
weaknesses.

 If both of you can sit down to analyze
the results and do the necessary
amendments , and looking at Gen
2;18-25, I am convinced that your
value systems in yourmarriage can
greatly improve and that you can
start having fulfillment in your
marriage.

 There is a future in marriage and I
am confident that ourmarriages will
work.
 Don’t give up.
 You can do nothing about the past
failures in yourmarriage but you can
do something today to have a
fulfilling marriage.
 The onus is on you.
