1. What are the purposes of advertising?
The main purpose of advertising is to inform people about new products and services offered by an
organisation, persuade people to buy these products or make use of the services offered and then to
remind people about the organisation and encourage repeat purchase and use.
“Advertising is a medium of information meant to attract and inform the public about a
product, service or business”
What makes advertising memorable?
A good advert connects with its audience, by drawing the viewer in by humour, emotional content or other
material that interests people usually something different from normal day to day adverts, something
unique. It is important that adverts don't repeat over and over what it is they're trying to sell, but get the
point across that their product is worth buying otherwise viewers lose interest.
what are some of the most successful UK T.V adverts of all time?
Honda - 2003

Tmobile - 2009

I think these adverts are very successful because, they are unique and different, some draw your
attention with humour, repetition, shock tactics some even use celebrities to attract a younger kind of
audience, so that whatever they are trying to promote, sells. This is because a lot of teenagers want to be
like their favourite celebrity.
How much does it cost to broadcast an advert on UK terrestrial TV channels?
TV Advertising can be broken into two main costs, creative (the making of your advert) and media (the
cost of placing it on a channel). I think it costs so much because people are trying to promote their
product and the prices vary depending on what times you would want the advertisement to be shown.
If advertisers want their products shown they should pay for their advert to be shown in between movies
or dramas, and although it costs a lot more than it would to advertise in the morning, you have more
viewers watching television by then and then have more chance of someone noticing the product they are
trying to sell.
2. Prices can vary, it depends on when and where you would want to advertise something.
What are the main job roles involved in tv advertising?
The main jobs include producer, director, actor, writer, art director and cinematographer;
A producer is someone who produces/makes things.
A director is someone who manages or oversees affairs of a business.
The actor is the performer for the advertisements and plays a key role as they have to make an
impression. A writer is someone who writes the scripts and tells the actors what to say and when to say it
or what the viewers read themselves.
The art director is in charge of the visual style and imagery used on things like magazines and TV
productions.
And finally the cinematographer is the person who is in charge of the camera crews working on film and
are also responsible for technical decisions.
What is an advertising agency?
An advertising agency creates, plans and manages all aspects of a client's advertising. Ad agencies can
specialize in specific areas, such as interactive advertising, or they can be a full-service agency that
creates advertising materials like brochures, catalogs, direct mail, print ads, radio and TV commercials,
sales letters, etc.
Some examples of ad agencies;

promotion) for its clients.”
