2. Question 1 – How old are you?
From these results I can identify the different
ages which are taking part in my survey. My
target audience for my research was aimed at
16-24 year olds. I can identify from my question
that there was only 2 people who was 14-16
years of age and however there was 8 people
who was between the age of 17-19. This is the
most popular choice which has been chosen.
This will allow me to identify the opinions of
young adults and what they think to being
homeless. 1 person who took part in my survey
was between the ages of 25 and another person
was over the age of 25 although that my target
audience doesn’t include the ages above 25.
Using this research will allow me to identify what
there opinions and thoughts towards the survey
was.
3. Question 2 – Are you male or female?
I decided to include this question of weather to
audience was female or male. I found out that
from this survey there was 3 people who
completed it who was male and the other 3
people was female. I was able to filter my results
to compare differences and similarities between
each answer. I found out that from the males
that the all of them believed that there wasn’t
much or any help available for homeless
teenagers and from the females I could see that
they agreed and that both females and males
thought that there wasn’t enough help for the
homeless youths.
4. Question 3 – Where do you live?
I decided to include this question in my survey as
I wanted to identify which parts of my target
audience was based in location. I also wanted to
find out which parts of Yorkshire had different
views towards being homeless. From my survey I
found out that 5 people who completed my
survey was from East Yorkshire, another 5
people was from North Yorkshire. The other 2
people was from West Yorkshire and also South
Yorkshire. I wanted to find out if people from
different locations had the same view and
opinion about young people being homeless. I
filtered my results and I found out a range of
things. I found out that most people from the
different locations mostly agreed and disagreed
on the same things.
5. Question 4 – Where would you go if you suddenly became homeless?
From this question I could identify what
peoples actions would be if they
became homeless. I would also be able
to find out if anyone would visit a
homeless charity for help. From my
results they present that 5 out of 12
people from my audience would go to a
family members house. 6 people out of
the 12 people who filled in my survey
would stay at a friends house and 0
people would visit a homeless charity.
From these results I know have
knowledge of what people would do if
they became homeless. Looking at my
results this shows that people wouldn’t
go to a charity maybe because they
don’t know a homeless charity or
maybe because they are scared.
6. Question 5– Would you help out a young person if they had nowhere else to stay?
From this pie chart it shows the
percentage of people who would help out
a young homeless person if they have no
where else to stay. Looking at these results
they show that only one person would
help out a young homeless person out of
the 12 people that I asked. I also found out
that this was a female who answered this
question. The other answered showed that
3 people would probably help out a young
homeless person this showed that they
was all females aswell and the other
answered including No and probably not
was men. This shows that women are
more likely to volunteer for a homeless
charity.
7. Question 6 – Do you think there is enough help for homeless teenagers?
This closed question allowed me to get results
and find out what my target audience thought
about current charities or help centers for
teenagers who are homeless. My results show
that 8 people who took the survey agreed
that there wasn’t not that much help for
teenagers. The other 3 people thought that
there was no help at all for teenagers and the
small percentage of 1 person thought that
there was quite a lot of help for homeless
teenagers. From these results I can identify
that there needs to be more awareness raised
of homeless charities and more people need
to know where they can go if they become
homeless.
8. This is simple yes and no question which
allows me to collect information weather
people are also aware of homeless charities.
There was 9 people which said No that they
are not aware and haven't heard any homeless
charities. From this research it is clear that
young people need to know about homeless
charities incase they become homeless their
selves. This can be done by creating more
leaflets, posters and other advertising
products. The other 3 people who had taken
the survey stated that they heard of homeless
charities before. These charities include
SASH, shelter and also Bernados.
Question 7 – Have you heard of any homeless charities?
9. I decided to include this question so I could see
which age group the audience thinks is
becoming at risk of becoming homeless. The
results show that the most popular category was
the 16-18 year olds. With 7 responses people
think that teenagers between ages 16-18 are
more likely to become homeless. Maybe this is
because of home issues, or other issues which
teenagers can face. 2 people thought that 18-20
year olds also have a chance of becoming
homeless and 2 people thought that children
between the age of 5-10 are at risk of not having
a home. Looking at these results it has allowed
me to identify which age group I can look more
into and focus on when creating work for a
homeless charity.
Question 8 – Which age groups do you think are most at risk of becoming homeless?
10. On this question I decided to ask this because I
wanted to find out if the people from my target
audience would know what to do if they became
homeless or if someone they knew became
homeless what advice that they could give. I
found out that half of the people who took part
in the survey would not know what to do if they
became homeless. These results are quite
shocking as it shows young people are
vulnerable of danger. From this result it proves
that young people could suffer the
consequences of what could happen because
they don’t know about local charities.
Question 9 – Would you know what to do if you or someone you know became
homeless?
11. As this question was an open question it allowed
the audience to input their own opinion about
homeless people. From this question I wanted to
find out if people judged homeless people and if
they had a negative view or positive view on
people who are homeless. I can identify different
things from the answers which the audience
have put. Some of the answers include that ‘they
haven't done enough in life’ which suggests a
negative view towards homeless people when
truthfully people don’t know the story behind
someone to why they became homeless. My aim
is to change this judgment of what my audience
has against homeless people.
Question 10 – What is the impression that you get toward homeless people?
