Evaluation question 3
1.
2. Getting feedback from the audience was, in my eyes, very important because it meant that I
could see what people thought about the initial video and how they suggested that I could
improve it. It is also easier for someone who hasn't seen the video before to spot any faults in
the video that they could tell me about so that I could fix it and not make that same mistake
again in the future. There was a mixture of opinions people gave back to me from watching the
music video; some responses were positive and some were negative, I took the negative ones
on board and tired to work on them as much as possible so that the video would be better for
future audiences. They commented on particular things such as the editing and the way that the
filming was constructed. They were also happy about the use of camera angles such as close ups
and variations to show the artist's emotions (general codes and conventions of rap music
videos). One other thing that seemed to interest the audience was the fact that although it was
a rap video which usually carries lot of stereotypes, my music video had a calm tone and people
could enjoy the song without feeling too hyped up. The reason they found this interesting was
because it went against traditional codes and conventions of rap music.
3. • I also posted the video on YouTube so that people
all around the world could watch the video and if
they wanted to then they could give us feedback
on what they thought about the video. Below is a
screen shot of comments which were made from
people about what they thought about the video.
Feedback here was particularly favorable, with
each comment stating what they liked about the
video. However, this could have been done out of
politeness.
4. • Results from the questionnaire will be shown below. After
completing the questionnaire I put the results into a pie chart for
people to see the overall results. This was very useful in the sense
that we could see how effective the questionnaire was and what
people generally thought about the video. The results of my
questionnaire showed me that a lot of people wouldn't but a copy
of the song in stores or in iTunes. I think this is because it is a hip
hop music and a lot of the older generation that I asked the
question didn't like it that much to pay for it in stores.
Additionally, looking at the results on my questionnaire, I asked
"was it what you expected from a rap video?" a lot of people said
"no" the reason for this is because people tend to associate
violence, sex and drugs with rap music, and my music video didn't
have any of these things in it because I wanted to go against and
challenge typical codes and conventions.
7. • What have I learned from the feedback?
Feedback given to me from the audience was very useful
in the sense that I saw mistakes that was in the video that
I wasn't able to see before. This is because fresh eyes
were looking at the video and it would have been easier
for them to spot anything that shouldn't be there. I took
into consideration what was said by the people that gave
me feedback as it helped to understand what needed to
be changed if I was to do the video again in the future.
Moreover, from the feedback I learnt that people would
have wanted to see a traditional music rap music video
that talks about money and girls because it is what they
are used to.
8. • Overall, feedback was pretty good. A lot of people
like the video and congratulated me on the work that
I had achieved it. However there were also some
criticisms but it was constructive which meant that I
could go back and make changes to my music video
when I wanted to.
• I purposely targeted people outside of my original
target audience to see if the video would appeal to
them and whether they would like the song or not. I
found that some people liked it and others didn’t.
The effect of this was to see if people could try news
things and listen to a different kind of music
