RFE has been recognized in the past for your excellence in the ecotourism industry, and our plan will garner further support and free advertising in newspapers and magazines.Early participation as a Pilot project adds value to Eduardo’s business“Readiness for REDD”Enhances his brand equity (it’s already his core business)
We’ve outlined 3 fundamentals to focus, while keeping in mind your goals of preserving the rainforest and protecting biodiversity. We’re interested in maintaining the legitimacy of your site in the eyes of ecotourists, the academic institutions and NGOs that associate their name with RFE.Legality – ensuring that you have clean and clear title to the land and any project that is pursued is done so in accordance with the laws of Peru. The project will be in line with your core business model, add value & enhance your brand equity.Legality – clean & clear to the land – done so in accordance with the laws of Peru.Legitimacy – maintaining the legitimacy of your site in the eyes of ecotourists, the academic institutions and NGO’s that associate their names with RFEValue Added....Early participation as a Pilot project adds value to Eduardo’s business“Readiness for REDD”Enhances his brand equity (it’s already his core business)
Our proposal in the short term is to pursue a REDD pilot project and, in the longer term, to sell REDD offsets on a regulatory marketEarly participation as a Pilot project adds value to Eduardo’s business“Readiness for REDD”Enhances his brand equity (it’s already his core business)
3 Possible Sources of Funding:Voluntary (sell voluntary offsets)Market-Linked (using auction revenues; Dual Markets)Direct Carbon Market (credits sold as offsets to developed country emitters)
We view the opportunity to participate in a pilot project as a significant marketing and PR gain, an early start in arming RFE with the tools to participate in a future REDD regulatory market and the capacity for verification and the necessary assessments. The plan will enhance brand equity and having international organizations and governments on board will make protecting land rights easier. Engaging surrounding property owners with similar projects will work toward the common goalEarly participation as a Pilot project adds value to Eduardo’s business“Readiness for REDD”Enhances his brand equity (it’s already his core business)
There are a number of pilot projects available. There are some cases of direct funding by foreign governments, But we believe that the most likely prospects will be those of the World Bank, the WWF, and the United Nations programs. We believe that RFE should apply to all three of these organizations.List which ones are considering Peru, etc.FCPF – enabling countries to implement REDD through a framework for developing baselines and establishing the capacity for assessment and verification under REDD and for testing REDD as a pilotPeru is one of the 37 countries named as ‘Participant’WWF Payments for Environmental Services Mechanism
The Peru Government expressed interest in participating in REDD projects at Copenhagen. These statistics, show what makes Peru an excellent candidate for REDD pilot project funding...You’ll notice that there is an extremely large portion of forest cover and alarmingly high rates of deforestation

Share monetary gains with the local population to help solve the causes of illegal logging and squatters. Exercise existing relationships with local population to achieve this. Consult with local population before undertaking any project, make sure community by in is present to achieve a win-win situation.
REDD is intended to save forests that would otherwise be logged or destroyed. Additionality needs to be proved by showing that under BAU, the RFE would be cut down.
Carbon offsets can be listed on the Chicago Climate Exchange through Sustainably Managed Forest projects. This provides an alternative to REDD; however, it does not provide the same legitimacy as REDD would because it will stay in the voluntary market. In this scenario, the goal of RFE would be very similar to our current proposal. The indigenous population would be extensively consulted with and would share in any benefits derived from the project (less you expenses in facilitating it). We would also recommend the encouragement of other land owners in the area to buy into this concept to reduce the pace of development. CCX Project Definition: Sustainable forest management activities may lead to additional forest carbon stocks by planting after harvest or natural disturbances, engaging in harvest systems that maintain partial forest cover, reducing soil erosion or avoiding destructive harvesting practices. CCX Calculation:Eligible projects may earn offsets for the additional net carbon sequestered in their forest stocks from the previous year (i.e., carbon sequestered from additional forest growth less carbon lost due to harvesting activities).
