ICCS6- February 11-13, 2020 | Pune, India In many countries, a myriad of agroclimatic information products has emerged (such as periodic bulletins and apps). These products cover a spectrum of needs and quality levels, and often overlap and reuse information from each other, forming a complex information "ecosystem." To assess the contribution of each product and the remaining gaps in information provision, as well as the usability of the individual products, an assessment approach is needed that has been lacking so far. Here we report on the development of a systematic and user-centered approach to assess climate information products and their networks; and their application to product sets covering the nexus of climate, agriculture, and food security in Guatemala and Colombia. Across both countries, we assessed 28 products used for agricultural decision making, outreach, planning research, and design of emergency responses. While climate-only information products play a central role in each network, other products intended to support agriculture and food security need to integrate information from different themes or disciplines and sources at different scales. We find that major improvements in the credibility, legitimacy, scale, cognition, procedures, recommendations, and content of most existing products are required. Our experience suggests that the approach proposed here will be especially useful for strengthening internal self-assessment processes, oriented towards learning from experience and reflecting on the lessons learned. Aspects of our approach that contribute towards satisfying these conditions include the iterative nature of the process, the participation of stakeholders throughout the study, the production of comparable data across different contexts and its novelty. Ultimately, the approach we propose is valuable for facilitating the prioritization of actions for improvement and/or the development of new products, thereby helping climate services for agriculture and food security to realize their true potential.

Proceedings available at: http://www.extension.org/67725 Teaching Best Management Practices (BMP) or introducing new agricultural waste management practices to livestock producers and farmers is a challenge. This poster describes a series of on-farm field days designed to deliver information and demonstrate on-site several waste management techniques, most of them well established in other parts of the country but sparsely used in Idaho. During these field days, Extension personnel presented each technique and offered written information on how to apply them. But without a doubt, presentations by the livestock producers and farmers who are already applying the techniques and hosted each field day at their farms was the main tool to spark interest and conversations with attendees. Presented by: Mario E. de Haro-Marti

As developers we write code everyday, only to frown at it a week after that. Why do we have such a hard time with code written by others and ourselves, this raging desire to rewrite everything we see? Writing code that survives the test of time and self judgment is a matter of clarity and simplicity. Let's talk about growing, learning and improving our code with calisthenics, readability and good design.

Over the years, application security (appsec) has made progress, but it has also made some considerable mis-steps. Appsec focuses almost solely on developer awareness and secure development training as remediation. This isn't sustainable and arguably does little good. There is a better way, but we have to separate ourselves from the core assumptions we have made that got us here. Lets journey together to find old truths and better approaches. We will explore ways to make a change for the better across all levels of the development lifecycle, but we will focus on security testing early on in the development process. From this session, you will learn pragmatic approaches and tooling that will affect your development processes and delivery pipelines. You will walk away with code examples and tools that you can put into practice right away for security and rugged testing. http://lascon.org http://lascon2015.sched.org/event/175e3c828095386b2fa0fc660b2502a3

Most know about Bitcoin, the well-known crypto-currency. Less know the details about the underlying and enabling technology, Blockchain. Hopefully, this presentation provides enough insights to understand blockchain concepts and why it's perceived to potentially disrupt many market segments, from retail to governments, from finance to health care. At last, I hope to brush fairly the many challenges of this rather new technology.

This paper defines vision for a farm of tomorrow and adoption of knowledge management system in the farm, which still has to be designed and developed by common farms and also farms of the future. The main focus of this vision is on integration among different levels of farm management systems and on requirements designed from analyses of external drivers. They will have a big influence on farm production in the future; using knowledge management and direction on future agriculture development in crop production. The report defines three levels of farm management. The proposed architecture is based on communication of interoperable services, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), for easy integration of different levels and components of farm management. The most important decision has to be provided by decision supporting system on the farm level. New methods of knowledge management are demonstrated on pilot models implemented on the base of Future Farm vision by the COIN project. As political consequences and conclusion is current working document Cologne agenda prepared as a basis for future activities supported by agriXchange initiative.

The Brussels Development Briefing n. 59 on “Agroecology for Sustainable Food Systems” organised by CTA, the European Commission/EuropeAid, the ACP Secretariat, CONCORD and IPES-FOOD was held on Wednesday 15 January 2020 (9h00-13h00) at the ACP Secretariat, Avenue Georges Henri 451, 1200 Brussels. The briefing brought various perspectives and experiences on agroecological systems to support agricultural transformation. Experts presented trends and prospects for agroecological approaches and what it implies for the future of the food systems. Successes and innovative models in agroecology in different parts of the world and the lessons learned for upscaling them were also discussed.

This study explores the complex and diverse field of modern agricultural technology and development programs, uncovering a contrast between advantages and disadvantages. The responders' wholehearted adoption of sophisticated methods highlights the favorable influence on agricultural output, efficient use of resources, and economic sustainability, demonstrating a shared commitment to sustainability and higher yields. Nevertheless, the utilization of these technologies presents notable challenges, such as concerns regarding the quality of the products, increased vulnerability to pest infestations, and financial constraints on agricultural practitioners. To address these issues, it is crucial to adopt a comprehensive approach that encompasses not only the integration of technology but also the mitigation of related difficulties. When considering the particular situation in Nueva Ecija, the implementation of innovative agricultural technology shows potential for small-scale farmers. This is evident in the establishment of strong agreements about empowerment, market-oriented financial services, equitable pricing, and superior productivity. In contrast, the New Agricultural Technology and Development Program in Nueva Ecija has financial drawbacks, highlighting the limitations of the biosphere, the necessity for cutting-edge technologies, heightened financial burdens, and difficulties in fulfilling program requirements. These issues raise concerns about accessibility and financial stress among members of the agricultural community.

Precision Farming (PF) is introduced and history in short is reviewed. Essential activities of GPS locating, soil mapping, GIS dataprocessing and presentation and VRT application are described. Basic principles of PF are shown to be: • Precision Farming is the management process of within-field variability. • This management must bring profit or at least reduce the risk of loss • This management must reduce the impact of farming on environment. Techniques used in Precision Farming are described. Economics of Precision Farming is discussed. A general cost/benefit analysis and profitability of PF are reviewed. The price of PF adoption facing a farmer is discussed. Methods of process analysis and activity based costing are shown as useful instruments for PF process analysis and model building. PF process is analysed and process graph is developed.

Explore how multimodal embeddings work with Milvus. We will see how you can explore a popular multimodal model - CLIP - on a popular dataset - CIFAR 10. You use CLIP to create the embeddings of the input data, Milvus to store the embeddings of the multimodal data (sometimes termed “multimodal embeddings”), and we will then explore the embeddings.
