Goals of “KISHTI”
• Day rehabilitation and education centre
  "КISHTI" was opened to create safe,
  developing and learning environment for
  children with disabilities from families and
  Children's home; and to support and train
  members of families and parents with
  disabled children.

club or the children.
•Organization of group meetings and
seminars for parents is a very important
part of the programs of early
intervention
•Attraction of parents to the activity of
the centre – organizing holidays, joint
games, partnership with experts in
drawing up of individual plans for
development of children
Story 1
•Кomron is 5 years old. One day his mum
came to ask how to place a child into
children's home. We talked to her, explained
our work, had a discussion and suggested
to come to “KISHTI” centre. After some
thinking she decided not to place her child
in CH. This is how she started coming to our
centre
           History 2
•Solehchon is 4 years old.
He has ICP. His mum placed him in
children's home. We talked to her, had a
discussion, explained our work and
suggested to come to KISHTI. She visited
our centre Kishti for some time, and yet she
left her child in children's home

•Trainings for staff
•Оpenning of two
crisis groups for
mothers
• Children home – 27 children with inability
• Children with parents - 58
• Total number of those who got
  consultations – 240 children
• Visit regularly - 50 children
Cooperation with Boarding schools
            (internat)
• Introduction of disability social model in
  closed institutions
• Training of modern concepts of disability
• Training of principles of integration and
  inclusion, and their gradual introduction in
  Boarding schools.
• Replacement of Boarding schools with the
  alternative rehabilitation centres for children
  with disability of daytime type.

Innovation in deinstitutionalisation of disabled children in Tajikistan

  • 1.   • 2. Goals of “KISHTI” • Day rehabilitation and education centre "КISHTI" was opened to create safe, developing and learning environment for children with disabilities from families and Children's home; and to support and train members of families and parents with disabled children.
  • 3. Prevention of placement of children to Opening of Early institutions full potential intervention Cooperation Training and with parents therapy Via games CHILD Integration Family and inclusion support Social Love, Individual Understanding, approach to model Attachment rehabilitation
  • 4. Our activity • Team estimation of skills and abilities of a child. • Design of Individual Plan for development for 3 months. • Estimation of needs and requirements of a family with disabled child
  • 6. Game therapy Work group Time together “Vakti Asssalom”
  • 7. Individual therapy • Physical therapy • Ergo-therapy • Exercising - active and passive motions of all groups of muscles, improves strength, motion activity of muscles and balance. • ET/ЭТ – Use of compensatory devices: walkers, struts, special stools, platens,), promotes development of independence and confidence of children’s activity
  • 8. Individual therapy •Exercises prevent constraint, deformations and development of contractures. •Exercises help nurses to care, as children are more independent, and it is easier for the staff to look after them. •Exercises help to protect a child from pain. Therapy of sensor integration •Stimulation of all sense organs •Influence on tactile and proprioseptive sensitivity •Sight and hearing activation
  • 9. Feeding •Training of parents on care, feeding, and correct positioning during feeding. •Oral stimulation. •Training of employees of Children's home to feed correctly

  • 12. Training on methods of alternative communication •For children with problems of speech development • For children with problems of communication

Parents club of self assistance and Art workshop •Parents club •Very few people from experts possess this many various skills to cope with daily difficulties like those that parents - participants of the group encounter. •Art-workshop - being engaged in applied art, parents not only get rest and forget about their problems, but also make money for needs of the club or the children.
  • 15. •Organization of group meetings and seminars for parents is a very important part of the programs of early intervention •Attraction of parents to the activity of the centre – organizing holidays, joint games, partnership with experts in drawing up of individual plans for development of children
  • 16. Story 1 •Кomron is 5 years old. One day his mum came to ask how to place a child into children's home. We talked to her, explained our work, had a discussion and suggested to come to “KISHTI” centre. After some thinking she decided not to place her child in CH. This is how she started coming to our centre History 2 •Solehchon is 4 years old. He has ICP. His mum placed him in children's home. We talked to her, had a discussion, explained our work and suggested to come to KISHTI. She visited our centre Kishti for some time, and yet she left her child in children's home
  • 17. “Matured parenting” programme •Trainings for staff •Оpenning of two crisis groups for mothers
  • 18. • Children home – 27 children with inability • Children with parents - 58 • Total number of those who got consultations – 240 children • Visit regularly - 50 children
  • 19. Cooperation with Boarding schools (internat) • Introduction of disability social model in closed institutions • Training of modern concepts of disability • Training of principles of integration and inclusion, and their gradual introduction in Boarding schools. • Replacement of Boarding schools with the alternative rehabilitation centres for children with disability of daytime type.
