2. Before creating my music magazine i conducted audience research and asked 20 people from my target audience to answer questions; i then used these results to make plans for my magazine production in order to appeal to the correct people. For example, My research showed that the two colours that most people would want to see on a magazine front cover are purple and black: i therefore used these colours on my magazine to attract and appeal to my target audience. My research also showed that most people would buy music magazines every month, so i decided that my magazine would be distributed monthly.
3. The image I used on my front cover should appeal to my target audience as it reflects the indie genre and conveys an attitude; the image also uses direct mode of address. My audience research also showed me a variety of people’s favourite artists, I took this into consideration when choosing my coverlines and contents page articles- an example would be ‘Ellie Goulding: The Album Track By Track’ as Elllie Goulding was chosen as the favourite artist of a few people in my target audience. I also found that 11/20 people that I questioned from my target audience would prefer to recieve a free CD with a music magazine, rather than a poster; at first I offered a free CD on my front cover, however I decided to change this later on in my production to ‘Free Download’ as most of the younger people in this social group now download music on the internet rather than listen to CD’s.
4. On my contents page I have again used images that reflect the indie genre and also use direct mode of address. I have also ensured that the colour scheme is consistent on both the front cover and contents page as these colours, according to my audience research, will attract my target audience. On my contents page I have also included an editorial letter that uses suitable lexis and speaks informally to readers; below this I added on a twitter address as many of the people from my target audience use this social networking site so this may appeal to them.
5. I think that the band I interviewed for my double page spread article would also attract my target audience as they, as well as writing their own songs, cover songs by other artists, including artists/bands from the indie genre. On my double page spread I used a headline that bleeds across both pages and would hopefully attract readers and encourage them to read the article.
