2. I don't want to go to bed right now
It's much too ridiculously early.
The night is still young, creative and fun;
My mind is exploding with things.
The knitting, the paintings, and reading, just some
There aren't enough hours to get it all done.

3. The darkness and silence
Conducive to thoughts
Stretch out like a canvas from dusk until dawn.
A vast empty surface
Awaiting my drafts
Expecting the first strokes laid down.

4. The evening's not only for crafts and creatives.
Within the dark silence
Our forrest it thrives.
An ear out the window
And what might you hear
But an owl serenading his wives.
Though cloaked in the darkness
Their voices still carry.
Their operatic melodies
Strung high in the trees.
In trees in the distance, from branches near by
The owls no one ever does see.

5. And taking a jaunt to the paint room you want
Not to meet with the skunk
Who could pay you a visit.
He might be with the 'coons
Underneath the full moon
But his eyesight's not very good, is it?
One can't easily guess
Whose the one who's most stressed
If we two so should meet on the paths.
Best I pay him adieu, hurry off, toodle-loo.
'Cause if he is surprised
I'll be wanting a bath.

6. Never mind all the critters
There's a light show upstairs.
Lift your eyes to the starry bright heavens above.
And if lucky you are
You'll be seeing some stars
Streaking madly for all those you love.
I like being awake
When my neighbors are sleeping.
I like painting
When everyone dreams.
I can't fall into bed
With a muse in my head.
There's a nap in my future
It seems.

7. All of this I might miss
If I fell off to sleep
Long before all the stars
Are secure in the sky.
I do pay in the day
For the evenings I play
Creativity
It doesn't come cheap.
