Internet users continue to spend
more time with social media sites
than any other type of site. – Nielson, The

Thirty-two percent of online adults age 65+ use social

The need to bond emotionally with others in

Today, there is much speculation about the
meaningfulness of human interactions
created by social media.
“We live in an accelerating contradiction:
the more connected we become, the lonelier we are.

not the same thing, but both are on the rise…

people. We gather
less. And when we

The question of the future is this:
Is Social Networking part of CONNECTING or ISOLATING?

on how we use

depend on its user.”

Technology sure has come a long way…
“…but the very MAGIC of the new machines, the efficiency and elegance with
which they serve us, obscures what isn’t being served: everything that
matters.”

“What Facebook has
revealed about human
nature—and this is not a
minor revelation—is that a
CONNECTION is not the
same thing as a BOND.”

CONNECTED or ISOLATED?

In this age of networked individualism, it is our choice. Wisely used, online
connections can strengthen bonds we already have…but used alone, can
lead us on an isolated path.
