This is a real usage graph from one of our financial services customers during the last week of April (They have asked to remain anonymous for competitive reasons). Firms on Wall Street are finding EC2 an ideal environment to run many of their daily mission critical grid computing and cpu bound applications for a couple key reasons: 1/ Flexibilitythe ability to instantly access hundreds/thousands of cores increases the amount of data they can process, improving the overall quality of their models. and 2/ Cost efficiencies, as they can complete more of their processing for less total spend (Not paying for infrastructure during times of the day and weekends when its not needed) This wall street firm in particular has a nightly business process where they upload the day’s market trading data into S3, and then run proprietary ‘risk management’ algorithms. This lasts ~10 hours during week nights, where they ramp up to the equivalent 3000 m1.smalls. During the day and on weekends, they maintain a base of roughly 300 cores, to handle their always on work loads.

Key of the slide: Let audience know that we have already had great adaption into Japan market. == In Japan, We have already had great case studies: Cross Makerting is using AWS on hybrid-cloud environment. The system reduces the time and cost to drive the businesses. Toshiba is using AWS’s EC2 and CloudFront for updating the farm wares of their electric products. Cookpad is using large scale data processing with Hadoop on AWS. Panasonic is running their worldwide campaign site “eco-ideas net” on AWS. Movatwi ( モバツイ) is twitter services for Japanese mobile phone (like a i-mode). The services works for 500K people and 1,000 PVs per day. And Webpo is the joint service by Ripplex and Japan Post. Webpo has launched new services this month. Let me show you the new service with live demo. The demo will be operated by Hideki Ojima, from Amazon Data Services Japan.

Key of the slide: - VPC allows enterprise customer to use AWS as a part of their own network. ==== Revised script: One of the general concerns about using the Cloud is internal security standards. In many cases, you may want to have your own servers in order to manage your customers information , and apply your security policy to all applications and data before you use public cloud for your security concerns. For AWS, we think about the solution differently. We want to simply put your entire internal IT infrastructure as is on the cloud. Through a VPN gateway, you can access to your private cloud through your internal network. This service is called “Virtual Private Cloud”, VPC. By using VPC , you don’t need to own your own servers, and can maximize the benefits from the cloud for your internal applications. ==== VPC is the unique and key solution for enterprise customers. AWS (”orange cloud"): What everybody knows of AWS today. Customer’s Network (“blue square”): The customer’s internal IT infrastructure. VPC (”blue square on top of orange cloud"): Secure container for other object types; includes Border Router for external connectivity. The isolated resources that customers have in the AWS cloud. The VPC services allow you to use EC2 as a part of customers internal network. It is the real“Private Cloud” and no need to buy Servers as your own assets. Just launch EC2 within your network. You can use EC2 as you want, and pay-as-you-go. When you turned off the EC2. you don’t need to pay any more. You can enjoy the benefit of real cloud computing of for your internal systems.
Key of the slide: - AWS has both merit: “the advantage of Cloud Computing” and “interoperability with existing resources” === Revised Script: The one uniqueness about AWS is that it’s designed to work with you applications as is. You do not need to make any modifications to them or have them adhere to any particular protocol in order they work with the cloud. Its designed that you can put your applications on for all, or part of the time, and put them back on your servers if you wish. While PaaS and SaaS work like AWS where users pay as you go, the interoperability for AWS makes it more flexible for our customers. === As you can see. AWS has the typical future of cloud computing - scalability and pay-as-you-go. In addition, AWS has interoperability with existing applications, data, and resources. It means AWS is easy to use with existing environment. AWS has both merit: “the advantage of Cloud Computing” and “interoperability with existing resources” Now a lot of enterprise customers have interest in building a Hybrid-Cloud system. AWS is the best solution for the needs.
