2. Introduction and Item List As my school’s media specialist, I have received $3500.00 to purchase new technology to support classroom instruction and the school library media program. I’m very excited and can’t wait to share with you the plans that the faculty, students, and I have made for expanding the ways in which we are able to utilize technology. I think you will find that we have devised a plan that will make a little go a long way toward reaching a couple of technological goals for our school. 3. Item Recommendations Each prioritized item would fill a specific technological need at ECHS. The following brief narrative explains each of those needs. Priority No. 1 – Podcasting Several teachers have expressed a desire to incorporate podcasting into their classroom lessons; however, our school currently does not have the technology to support this. The first three items on the prioritized list, the camcorders, the microphones, and the pull-down screens are essential elements to creating and viewing successful podcasts. Priority No. 2 – Presentations The media center currently has space for meetings and presentations but lacks technology to support technology during such collaboration. I believe that almost all of the items on the list could be utilized in creating effective presentations with the ceiling mounted screen and interactive whiteboard being particularly useful. These are the two items that our current media specialist said she would most like to have added to the media center. This area, with its new Technology could be used for faculty conferences/presentations as well as class assignments and student-led presentations. Priority No. 3 – Digital Photography/Scanning Both media specialist and teachers expressed a desire to have digital cameras that teachers could check out for classroom use. Teachers sometimes like to simply capture classroom moments for bulletin board displays or yearbook pages. Occasionally a classroom project may entail a multimedia component. A digital scanner is also desired for scanning prints and other documents in the media center. **The ideas and wishes expressed above were generated through surveys of students, teachers, and our school’s current media specialists.

Purchase Recommendations Due to prices and validity of online vendors, I have decided to purchase the new technology for our school from each of the vendors labeled Vendor #2 in the purchase specifications table on the two previous slides. The final budget summary appears in the table below. Total: $3,371.92 *There is a budget balance of approximately $128.00. This money could be used to purchase accessory items such as batteries, cables, or cartridges for the scanner, camcorders, or digital cameras. *This budget did not consider items for classrooms such as LED projectors, handheld smartboards, and interactive whiteboards because our school recently received funds from a 21 st century classroom grant, which allowed many of our teachers to have these items installed in their rooms.
