2. Outline
• When we are filming in our locations it is essential that everyone
involved in the set are aware of the dangers that surround us. The
main idea of a risk assessment is to let people know of all the risks
that could happen so they can be more careful. By doing a risk
assessment it should minimise the chance of someone getting injured
whilst filming.
3. Name of Production: THE BUTCHER
Date: 19th October 2014
Task: To create a two minute opening sequence
Location: Tariq Halal Meats Wholesale Ltd
Personnel: Director, Editor, Cameraman, Actors/Actress
4. Roles
Names Roles
Thuvaaragan Kuruparan Director
Hassan Shahid Editor/ Sound person
Rikhel Trivedi Camera person
5. Hazards Risk Factor (1 to 5
with 1 = low risk, 5
= high risk)
Solution Why we gave this rating
The risk of getting dust on
the camera or the tripod.
4
When moving the camera and
tripod for different shots we will
make sure that we constantly
keep cleaning the camera and
the tripod to avoid permeant
stains on the camera or the
tripod.
We had given this rating because the camera we are
going to use is a very important piece of equipment
when filming. If the camera gets damaged or breaks,
it will mean that there will be no filming taking place
on the day. Also the cost for all damages and for the
cast and crew will be extremely high.
Transporting all the heavy
equipment to the location
where we are going to be
filming. It all requires heavy
lifting.
4
The person who is going to be
carrying the equipment should
be well fit and will need to have
the right level of strength to
make sure they don’t hurt
anyone around them when
lifting the equipment
The camera is quite heavy itself then there is the
tripod which has to be carried all the way to
Wembley by train. So the equipment will be carried
by hand from place to place. Then when filming we
will have to move the camera around to get the
perfect shots which we want for the film.
When carrying the
equipment on the streets
while it is raining, getting
the equipment wet could
lead to leakages in the
camera or tripod which
may not be able to be
repaired
3
When we are moving with the
equipment either it is to our
location or back to school, it will
still mean it is outside. So we will
have to make sure when we are
going to our location it does not
rain so no damages can be done
to the camera.
It is essential that we keep all the equipment we are
carrying covered with a thick material bag which will
prevent water getting to the equipment and
waterproof. If there is water trapped within the
camera then it will damage the camera and the
camera may stop working. This will prevent us from
filming and we will have to pay an extreme high cost
for damages done to the camera.
6. Hazards Risk Factor (1 to 5
with 1 = low risk, 5 =
high risk)
Solution Why we gave this rating
Eye strain from sitting and
being on the computer too
long for editing or
coursework for the
production 2
All the members in our crew should be
taking regular breaks so the time spent on
working on the computer is divided to
avoid risk. The members in the crew
especially the editor should not sit too
close to the monitor as there is a risk of
getting eye strain so to avoid eye strain its
best if they do not sit too close to the
monitor.
We have given this rating because it is a risk which is not
long term but can feel unpleasant. As sitting in front of a
computer it can give regular headaches and damage
people’s eye sight as you are focused too much on the
monitor and the computer probably has high brightness.
Using the computer too long can mentally affect your,
also using the computer too long increases the risk of
heart disease as you are constantly sitting in front of a
computer for hours and your body isn’t moving, without
enough exercise being done. Heart disease is normally
due to lack of exercise.
Back pain and neck strain
from sitting in front of a
computer for too long for
either editing or
coursework
3
Members from our crew who are doing
their coursework or editing for the
production should take regular breaks as
mentioned above. They should move
around a lot during their breaks as lack of
movement can lead to muscles strains
which will be uncomfortable. So the
members who are using the computer
should move around during their breaks
As a group we have given this rating because being in the
same position for hours can restrain your muscles and
feel very unpleasant which can affect your day to day
lives.
