• Advertisement; Sky TV advertises its channel to a range of
different companies to promote its publicity for people to
start watching the channel. The channels sky provide can be
bought by other companies for advertising slots
• Subscription; Sky 1 gets sponsorship from a variety of different
brands/companies such as football. As football may not be
shown on sky 1, it is shown on the Sky Sports channels which
you have to pay for, but once you have paid for Sky Sports, you
then get Sky 1 as part of the deal which leads to some of the
payment. Sky charge a fee of £21.50 a month for a range of
35+ channel and 11 free-to-air HD channels
3. How is sky funded?
• Online/mobile; If customers already have a sky account (sky
TV) they can log in online or on a smart phone to watch
programs they don’t want to miss if they cant access a certain
channel at another place. Sky television is mainly funded by
advertisements. This is a New Zealand pay TV service that was
founded by Terry Jarvis, Alan Gibbs, Trevor Farmer and Craig
Heatley in 1987. It has digital subscribers among its target
audience.
