THE BASIC CONCEPTS OF
MEASUREMENT AND METRIC
CONVERSION
METRIC SYSTEM OF
MEASUREMENT
 The metric system is a system of measuring. It
  has three basic units:
 m the meter for length

 kg the kilogram for mass

 S the second for time

 With those three simple measurements
we can measure nearly everything in the world!
METRIC TABLE
 A decimal system of units based on the meter as a
unit length, the kilogram as a unit mass, and the
    second as a unit time.
METER
 The fundamental unit of length in the metric
system, equal to 100 centimeters or approximately
    39.37 inches.
KILOGRAM
 The base unit of mass in the International
System, equal to 1,000 grams (2.2046 pounds).
SECOND
 A unit of time equal to one sixtieth of a minute.
