        USA
       By Maia
Early Life

Born January 30, 1882, in Hyde Park,
New York.
His parents were very wealthy.
Education

Enrolled at Harvard University
He met a distant cousin named Eleanor
there. She was the niece of former
United States President Theodore
Roosevelt.
First Lady
Eleanor Roosevelt
Getting There...

In 1905 Franklin married Eleanor.

After graduating from Harvard he attended Columbia University Law
School.

In 1910 Roosevelt was elected as a Democrat to New York Senate.

The Democratic Party chose Roosevelt to run for president in 1932.
With the depression worsening Roosevelt promised a “New Deal” for
millions of poor people.
As President...

He won an easy victory over his
Republican opponent, Herbert Hoover.
By he time Roosevelt came in as
president in March 1933 about 13 million
people were unemployed in the US.
After Catching Polio...
Franklin always was
with a walking stick or
in a wheelchair. When
he was on the news his
wheelchair would be
under a table clothed
table. No one would
want to think he was a
weak president.
Second Term...

Roosevelt easily won re-election in 1936.
By the time he began his second term in
1937 the economy had greatly improved.
On December 7, 1941, Japan bombed
U.S. military bases in Pearl Harbor,
Hawaii. The U.S. entered W.W. II.
The bombing of Pearl
      Harbor
Third term...

Roosevelt got re-elected in 1944.
He was the only president with three
terms.
Fourth Term...

When Roosevelt was elected his fourth
term, the war had taken in favor of the
Allies, but Roosevelt’s health was
declining. His arteriosclerosis worsened
by the stress of serving as a war-time
president.
The Passing of
           Roosevelt
Franklin D. Roosevelt died of a stroke at
his vacation home in Warm Springs,
Virginia in 1945.
Roosevelt led us through the two crises
of the 1900’s the great Depression and
W.W.II.
“The only thing we have to fear is
           fear itself.”
