Liking something shows your friends that you agree with what they’re saying, or like what they’re posting.

Re-tweet: re-tweeting is when you repost a tweet that someone else already posted. So you share it with your followers. @: Putting an @ sign before another users username links your tweet to their profile. #: Putting a # (hashtag) before a word turns it into a link, connecting you to all the other people on Twitter who used that same term.
