- C2C is aNational broadband adoption initiative announced by the FCC Chairman Nov 2011Goal is to promote digital literacy education and broadband adoption for low income households with school age children (at least one child in Free National School Lunch Program)Voluntary Partnership between the FCC, NCTA, broadband providers, hardware providers, content providers, and non-profits. Connect2Compete is the non-profit company who manages the program and the brand.
- Formed 2011 C2C’s partners include major cable broadband providers, national and local nonprofits, and other national organizations. This national initiative aims to provide students and families with the hardware and digital skills to effectively improve their lives and help them thrive in the global economy.
- Families do not have to take both products – they can get either one or bothIf customers have a back balance with Cox, they have an opportunity to pay off the balance to participate in the program.
- Minimum qualification for Cox’s program with C2C is that the family has a child in the national free lunch programTo receive the broadband offer, the families will need to be in the Cox service area and not have any bad debt.The families must also have not had Cox internet in the last 3 months—again, this is an adoption program and we want to be sure to target families that are not currently connected
- Application will ask the applicant to indicate that they are enrolled in Free Lunch program and they are willing to share that information as part of this C2C enrollment processC2C Eligibility Center will utilize 3rd party databases to validate student’s participation in Free Lunch Program
