Mobile Community Cloud Computing: Emerges and Evolves

With the advent of mobile smart phones, new types of virtual communities arrived, i.e. mobile communities. Mobile communities, with respect to their IT needs, introduce new requirements compared to traditional online web communities. On the other hand, cloud computing is emerging as computing concept that promises provision of computational resources on demand and abstraction of technical details from the clients. We propose Mobile Community Cloud Platform (MCCP) as a cloud computing system that can leverage the full potential of mobile community growth. An analysis of the core requirements of common mobile communities is provided before we present the design of our cloud computing architecture that supports building and evolving of mobile communities.

Web applications have overcome traditional desktop applications especially in collaborative settings. However, the bulk of Web applications still follow the "single user on a single device" computing model. Therefore, we created the DireWolf framework for rich Web applications with distributed user interfaces (DUIs) over a federation of heterogeneous commodity devices supporting modern Web browsers such as laptops, smart phones and tablet computers. The DUIs are based on widget technology coupled with cross-platform inter-widget communication and seamless session mobility. Inter-widget communication technologies connect the widgets and enable real-time collaborative applications as well as runtime migration in our framework. We show that the DireWolf framework facilitates the use case of collaborative semantic video annotation. For a single user it provides more flexible control over different parts of an application by enabling the simultaneous use of smart phones, tablets and computers. The work presented opens the way for creating distributed Web applications which can access device specific functionalities such as multi-touch, text input, etc. in a federated and usable manner. TheWebConf 2018 Developer Track Presentation. New Internet-enabled devices and Web services are introduced on a daily basis. Documentation formats are available that describe their functionalities in terms of API endpoints and parameters. In particular, the OpenAPI specification has gained considerable influence over the last years. Web-based solutions exist that generate interactive OpenAPI documentation with HTML5 & JavaScript. They allow developers to quickly get an understanding what the services and devices do and how they work. However, the generated user interfaces are far from real-world practices of designers and end users. We present an approach to overcome this gap, by using a model-driven methodology resulting in state-of-the-art responsive Web user interfaces. To this end, we use the Interaction Flow Modeling Language (IFML) as intermediary model specification to bring together APIs and frontends. MIITE India- To train and certify annually one million college students/job-seekers/professionals in IT/Soft Skills every year via the nationwide MIITE program Dr. Appu Kuttan, founder and chairman of the National Education Foundation (NEF) the U.S. national non-profit leader in STEM+ education, announced the APPUJI Scholarship program to meet India’s critical skilling challenge. Any Indian college student or job-seeker can enroll or Colleges and Organizations can apply to participate in www.appuji.org or www.edufinserve.in Today, skill imparting and up-gradation is most wanted to professionals & students. Keeping this in focus and as our objective, and with support from both National and International institutions, the RIMSR\EFS Academy, India has joined hands with MIITE program. Modular-programs are specifically developed to meet the intended objectives. However, while doing all these activities, utmost importance is given to be most economical. On these lines, the EFS Academy has developed 3 Programs containing over 600 ‘skill-based programs,’ that are tailor-made to the training needs. For this purpose, we have collaborated with the National Education University, USA and ‘State University of New York’ for the development of training courses, which are suited to meet the requirements of professionals. Currently, the training courses are the in the areas of Technology, IT, Business, Management, and Soft Skills. The training duration depending on the particular skill that needs to be honed. The program is administered by RIMSR \ EFS Academy, which are technology driven dedicated skill-enhancement institutions in India. The training programs are on e-platform, which gives great flexibility to the professionals / students who get enrolled, as they could take the program at their convenience without affecting the regular work. Participants upon successful completion of courses will be duly certified. The list of programs that are offered are in the enclosed ppt. The number of microservices running in enterprises increases daily. As a result, service composition, governance, security, and observability are becoming a challenge to implement and incorporate. A “cell-based” architecture is an approach that can be applied to current or desired development and technologies to address these issues. This technology-neutral approach helps cloud-native dev teams become more efficient, act in a more self-organized manner, and speed overall release times. In this talk, Asanka will introduce the "cell-based" architecture, which is decentralized, API-centric, cloud-native and microservices friendly. He will explain the role of APIs in the cell-based approach, as well as examine how real applications are built as cells. Asanka will explore the metrics and approaches that can be used to measure the effectiveness of the architecture and explore how organizations can implement the cell approach.

Created by Mozilla Research in 2012 and now part of Linux Foundation Europe, the Servo project is an experimental rendering engine written in Rust. It combines memory safety and concurrency to create an independent, modular, and embeddable rendering engine that adheres to web standards. Stewardship of Servo moved from Mozilla Research to the Linux Foundation in 2020, where its mission remains unchanged. After some slow years, in 2023 there has been renewed activity on the project, with a roadmap now focused on improving the engine’s CSS 2 conformance, exploring Android support, and making Servo a practical embeddable rendering engine.
