You are not allowed to copy or record anything without permission, and to make further copies and share them with the world is illegal Can I use pictures straight from the internet? No To use pictures from the internet you must first ask permisson from the owner of the picture, this can be done easily through email. Once you have gained permisson then you can use the pictures

3. Can I tape off the radio or TV? You can record a television programme for your private and domestic use, solely for the purpose of enabling you to watch the television program at a more convenient time. You can also record a television programme for the purpose of making a complaint to the broadcaster or other person responsible for dealing with complaints about programme content. However, you can not keep the recording for longer than is necessary in each case.

4. Can I download MP3s from the internet and use these in my presentation? Sure - as long as they were obtained as legitimately free downloads or purchased legitimately, from a site authorised by the copyright holders to sell them. If a website gives general advice about copyright privileges, bear in mind this may not be applicable to New Zealand law, especially if the website is based overseas. Can I quote someone in my presentation, or quote from a book? You can use a very short piece of someone else's written work (a quotation), but it can 't be the most important or identifiable part of their whole work. And you always need to say where it comes from (acknowledgement).

5. Does copyright expire? Copyright lasts different amount of times for different types of documents. Once the copyright expires it falls into “public domain” and can be used by anyone Literary, dramatic, musical or artistic works : Copyright protection lasts fifty years from the end of the calendar year in which the author dies. Artistic works industrially applied : Copyright protection lasts sixteen years from the time the work is industrially applied. Works of artistic craftsmanship industrially applied : Copyright protection lasts twenty-five years from the time the work is industrially applied Sound recordings and films : Copyright protection lasts fifty years from the end of the calendar year in which the sound recording or film was made or made available to the public, whichever is the latter. Broadcasts and cable programmes : Copyright protection lasts fifty years from the end of the calendar year in which the broadcast is made, or the cable programme is included in a cable programme service. Typographical arrangement of published editions : Copyright protection lasts until twenty-five years from the end of the calendar year in which the edition was first published.
