[1] Belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and Divine Preordainment (Qadar) are the six main articles of faith in Islam.
[2] Belief in Allah encompasses His lordship, divinity, and names/attributes. Belief in angels includes those assigned to revelation, rain, the horn, Hell, and questioning the dead.
[3] Belief in books includes scrolls of Abraham and Moses, Torah, Psalms, Gospel, and the final Quran. Belief in the messenger is that Muhammad was the final prophet.

2. 1. Belief in Allah
Muslims believe in the tawheed of His
Rububiyyah (Unity of His Lordship), His
Ulohiyya (Unity of Godhood or Divinity), and
His Asma was Shifat (Unity of His Names and
Attributes)

3. 2. Belief in His Angels
Muslims believe in the existence of the angels of Allah
and that they are honoured servants that speak and act
only by His command (21:26). Angels are assigned
certain functions. Among them are:
1. Jibrail, who is entrusted with Revelation.
2. Mikail, who is in-charge of rain and plantation.
3. Israfil, who is in-charge of blowing the horn at the Last Day
and Resurrection.
4. Malik, the Keeper of Hell.
5. Nakir and Munkar, assigned of questioning the dead in his
grave.

• Allah chose from mankind Prophets and
Messengers to guide and invite people from
His way. The first of the Prophets was Adam
and the first of the Messengers was Noah, and
the last of the Prophets and the Messengers
was Muhammad.

resurrection)
Bani Israel 17:13-14: “Every man’s fate (deed)
We have fastened on his neck: on the Day of
Judgment We shall bring out for him a book
which he will see spread open. (It will be said
to him) “Read thine (own) record: sufficient is
thy soul this day to make an account against
thee.”

7. 6. Belief in Qadar (Divine Preordainment)
including the Good and Bad of it
Belief in Qadar has many aspects, to wit:
• 1. Knowledge: We believe that Allah knows
what had happened and what will happen and
how it will happen. His knowledge is eternal.
• 2. Recording: We believe that out of His
knowledge of what will happen, He recorded
in the Preserved Tablet whatever is going to
happen until the Day of Judgment.

3. The Womb: We believe that at the beginning
of the existence of man in the womb of his
mother, an angel is ordered to record four
matters.
4. Allah’s Will: We believe that nothing happens
except as Allah wills, and out of His will He
creates.
