Nocturnal animals have developed behaviors and heightened senses that allow them to be active at night. They have special adaptations like eyes that see well in the dark, echolocation abilities, extra powerful hearing, sound-muffling feathers, heavy fur and soft feet to sneak up on prey, and a strong sense of smell and hearing to find food at night. Examples are lemurs that can see well at night, bats that use echolocation, rabbits with sharp hearing, owls with sound-muffling feathers, cats with stealthy fur and feet, and aardvarks that can smell and hear insects.
