Wednesday: We were again in our headquarters.
3. Monday
In the morning we went by bus from Parentis to Biscarrosse beach. There we made groups (each
group had different job). Then we went by bike to the dunes. We learnt how to identify a lot of
plants. We were on the beach and we touched the Atlantic. Then we went back to the headquar-
ters. We had a picnic outside. Baguettes were delicious. Afterwards we received some forms for
our next job which was about recognising plants on the dune. Technically we were doing the
same work as we did before just in different groups. In the end we had some free time on the
beach and we draw some word in the sand. It was a good day.
Musée des traditions et de l’histoire de
Biscarrosse,
Tuesday June 1st
Today,in the morning, we went in a museum in Biscarrosse from 10:30 to 12:00.
At first, we saw a film. It was only in French, so the Czech didn’t understand. It ex-
plained how the area looked like before. After, we saw a map. There was a guide who talked
us about the map and the region. She explained the area was very flat and she was boggy.
So, the persons who lived in the Landes must planted up pin trees. After, we saw the room of
4. Wednesday, the 2nd of june
Some pupils were listening to music and at the same time they were working on the identifi-
cation sheet of the plants.
Before finishing their identification, the pupils went to the dune to take more pictures.
After that pupils did several activities. For example thank the people who allowed us to or-
ganize this echange. Another team created the cover of our brochure. Another student selec-
ted pictures taken during the week.
Everybody was hungry so we had lunch in the sun.
The report about the museum
We had a meeting at 8:30 behind the school. We went by bus
to the small city Sanguinet and our first acivity was visit the
Museum of the laque. The guide told us many information
about the Sanguinet lake. In the past, there was only a river,
which was blocked by the dunes a long time ago. It took many
years and the lake appeared. The dunes are up to 85 metres
high and they were made by the west wind and sand from the
Atlantic ocean. The exibithion continued and French teacher
was translating the information to English. Then we could see
some old coins, vase, bowls and things, which were used by
old inhabitants. The long wooden boats were made from pine
tree, they were under the water level, the scientists took them
up and put them into the museum.
5. Matériel et méthode
On Monday morning we made identification of the plants with Mr. LABAT. Many plants
were identificated. In the afternoon we went to the dune and we did the work, which our
teachers gave for us: find and describe 2 plants. We found these plants in the areas (each 10
metres, about diameter 4 metres). When we found something, we wrote it on worksheet. (we
had 5 categories - + single plant, 1. a few plants of the same species, 2. a lot of plants but
less 50% of the area, 3. this species cover more than 50% of the area, 4. this species cover
more than 75% of the area). Finally we shared the information with the other students.
The rules were not to step on the plants and respect the dune.
