4 cryonics..
1. CRYONICS : A WAY OF PRESERVATION
Cryonics
The most important application of Nanotechnology is CRYONICS. “Cryo” is a Greek root meaning "cold"
Cryonics is the science and practice of preserving the recently deceased in hope of future revival
The Birth of Cryonics
Cryonics was first proposed by Robert Ettinger, inspired by Neil R. Jones's science fiction story, "The
Jameson Satellite." "The Jameson Satellite" tells how Professor Jameson has his body sent into orbit
where it remains frozen for millions of years until, with humankind extinct, aliens repair his brain and
bring him back to life.
Ettinger recognized that Neil R. Jones had missed an obvious point: instead of hoping aliens will one
day repair one's frozen body it makes a lot more sense to hope that breakthroughs in technology will
one day make it possible for physicians to repair the brain and revive someone frozen in the past.
Cryonics was born.
Totally or Legally Dead?
A declaration of legal death does not mean that life has suddenly ended—death is a gradual process,
not a sudden event.
A person is said to be legally dead ,if his brain is still working but the heart beat stops.
A person is said to be totally dead ,if both of his brain and heart stops functioning.
CRYOPRESERVATION
Cryonics is practice of preserving human body in extremely cold temperatures.
The person can be "Frozen” then revived in the future when a cure has been discovered
Using COLD to PRESERVE the life of a person no longer able to be supported by ordinary medicine -
(Cryopreservation)
Vitrification
Replacement of over 60% of water in the human body with cryoprotectants to reduce cellular
destruction at extremely low temperatures.
Vitrification Process
Immerse patient in ice.
Minimize blood coagulation and post ischemic injury.
Provide oxygen via CPS
2. Move patient to suitable location.
Wash out blood and replace it with a preservation solution.
Transport patient to vitrification operating location.
Nanotechnology
Technology on the scale of billionths (nano) of a meter, Allowing manipulation of atoms to create
molecules by design to repair freezing damage in cryonics patients.
The oldest patient currently still being held in cryopreservation is Dr.JamesBedford, who was
suspended in 1967.
FUTURE ENHANCEMENTS
With the knowledge of cryonics, cryonists are preserving the brains of humans.
We know that each person alive today was once a single cell and a complete human being can be
grown in the natural state.
Thus they believe that genetic programming of a single cell on the surface of that brain begins a
process of growth and development that perhaps appends to the brain a complete young adult body.
