hallo hallo, welcome :)
2. first: a video about cyrcolo
video here > http://vimeo.com/67287518
< this is our case-study today
3. P2P cycle community based on sharing of private bikes
INFRASTRUCTURE: bike device|platform|app
ROLES: provider|user|curator
GLOCAL: flirts with both scales (L)
BUSINESS MODEL: selling of device|service +
revenue sharing with communities
AMBITION/EXIT: communities take over the company (W)
short RECAP
4. BUT..
considering brief:
> urban flows
> funding the flows
> scaling-up the bottom up
> new communities|clients|businesses
we have almost all of them…
… and cool|tricky things start to pop-up
5. cool thing #1
it is about REPLICABILITY <3
non SCALABILITY
many S|M networked communities ooo + AAA + XXX + [...]
instead of a unique global one
IMPORTANT!!!
6. cool things #2&3
2 > empowers communities
2b > fosters identities
3 > it is not centralized
7. tricky thing #1
who do you want to be: provos (we <3) or real?
as AMBITIONS are high, STARTUP COSTS are consequent :(
(it is not like starting it just in your neighborhood)
-----> where to get funds to start?
RE: in any case it’s complicated..
about starting up costs, more info here > http://bit.ly/1BNEkdk
8. tricky thing #2
all that stuff is not 100% feasible both in terms of:
FISCALITY ¥€$ > shares, taxes (any subject’s)
MANAGEMENT responsibilities|insurances etc.
PERMITTING scenarios are changing and EU isn’t yet EU
about starting up costs, more info here > http://bit.ly/1BNEkdk
9. tricky thing #3
it’s not like “I do a project then i finish|drop it” …
dealing with communities is 100% absorbing
(the community is the message)
plus
sometimes renders you the leader.
about starting up costs, more info here > http://bit.ly/1BNEkdk
10. in the end
more than an economical problem, it is an
ECOLOGICAL one:
which is designer’s role in society?
how does it fosters change?
(as it shoould do as nowadays role of D is to create value)
11. P.S.
We’ve always been taught money wasn’t important. it is indeed.
Point is not about how to drive money or fit fundings into what we do.
it is about how to generate processes that are socio|economically not only
meaningful but most of all sustainable (in any sense)
yours,
Marco
