Benefits of attending LHAN

Knowing the Tourism sector better and taking the message back to the
businesses (museums) an Education

Networking aspect and learning

Business benefits as a result of learning/networking at LH AN

Understanding the wider Heritage/Culture/Tourism case

Exploring new opportunities

Best/worst practices – learning from other experiences

Communication of product to peer businesses

Support Network and learning

External marketing messages to define what heritage ‘means’

Extend Heritage perception …….. to more Cultural

Raise awareness of who does what within Lancashire eg HODS

Appreciate the commercial value of Heritage

Tales to tell to and add to the visitor experiences

Cross selling opportunities to other venues and sectors ……




Sustainability of LHAN

Use feedback research of activity to convince others of the merits of Heritage

Venues/businesses to offer venues foc for the network

Delegates/attendees agreed to contribute towards catering

Omit lunch or pay for own catering – no such thing as a ‘Free’ lunch !

Bring own food to the Network meetings
Important for the sector to feed back information to LBTB on Heritage fact
finding

Current format ‘’works’’ – two networking meetings per year

Involvement of heritage and cultural organisations to be considered to
broaden the network

Right balance between of being commercial and social aspect


Progression of LHAN

Steering group to ‘’do’’ more - and become less reliant on LBTB doing the
‘’doing’’

Additional funds to LBTB to support LHAN

Contributions agreed by the attendees towards refreshments for networking
events

Morning event (free) followed by paid for lunch

Via LBTB members events instead and focus on sector ?

Sponsorship of event by T. A.’s or other bodies

Keep the forum going – perhaps shorter but more frequently

Essential networking opportunity

Omit lunches unless sponsored

Notes from the workshop held at Astley Hall, Chorley – 7th October, 2010 Benefits of attending LHAN Knowing the Tourism sector better and taking the message back to the businesses (museums) an Education Networking aspect and learning Business benefits as a result of learning/networking at LH AN Understanding the wider Heritage/Culture/Tourism case Exploring new opportunities Best/worst practices – learning from other experiences Communication of product to peer businesses Support Network and learning External marketing messages to define what heritage ‘means’ Extend Heritage perception …….. to more Cultural Raise awareness of who does what within Lancashire eg HODS Appreciate the commercial value of Heritage Tales to tell to and add to the visitor experiences Cross selling opportunities to other venues and sectors …… Sustainability of LHAN Use feedback research of activity to convince others of the merits of Heritage Venues/businesses to offer venues foc for the network Delegates/attendees agreed to contribute towards catering Omit lunch or pay for own catering – no such thing as a ‘Free’ lunch ! Bring own food to the Network meetings

Important for the sector to feed back information to LBTB on Heritage fact finding Current format ‘’works’’ – two networking meetings per year Involvement of heritage and cultural organisations to be considered to broaden the network Right balance between of being commercial and social aspect Progression of LHAN Steering group to ‘’do’’ more - and become less reliant on LBTB doing the ‘’doing’’ Additional funds to LBTB to support LHAN Contributions agreed by the attendees towards refreshments for networking events Morning event (free) followed by paid for lunch Via LBTB members events instead and focus on sector ? Sponsorship of event by T. A.’s or other bodies Keep the forum going – perhaps shorter but more frequently Essential networking opportunity Omit lunches unless sponsored
