Dąbrowa Górnicza is a city in southern Poland that grew in the 19th century after the discovery of coal deposits. It was originally called Old Dąbrowa and was renamed Dąbrowa Górnicza in 1916 when it received city rights. While the coal mines have since closed, steel production remains important to the city's economy.
