Senate Bill 25 amends Tennessee code related to the administration of local education agencies. AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49,
Chapter 2, relative to administration of local
education agencies.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-2-502, is amended by designating
the current language as subsection (a) and by adding the following language as a new,
appropriately designated subsection:
Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a) or any other law to the contrary,
if the proposed transfer of the administration of the schools in the special school district
would increase student enrollment within the county education agency by one hundred
percent (100%) or more, then the proposed transfer shall be effectuated in the manner
set forth in §§ 49-2-1201 through 49-2-1208.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring
it, and shall apply to any such transfer having its referendum results certified on or after the
effective date of this act.
