5. What are we aiming for
1. Stress free users
2. Obvious navigation
3. No dead ends
4. Returning users
6. Let’s start at the beginning.
How easy do you make it for new users?
When a first time user logs onto your site
are you confident they know where to go
and what to do?
14. Totara
A user’s learning can be informed by
1. The Audience they are in
2. Their place in the organisation
3. When they started
4. The competency framework
5. Their manager.
34. Quiz feedback
Incidentally the button came from a website called
Da Button Factory
https://dabuttonfactory.com/
Where you can design your own buttons painlessly.
39. In summary
1. Have I given the learner enough information to
know what to do?
2. Have I given the learner a way to get back to the
course (or anywhere else I need them to be)?
For every element you add ask yourself the
following questions:
If in doubt, log in as a student and carefully test
every item in the course.
Documentation – this may be hosted on the intranet or handed out in hard copy.Gives an overview of the system and where to begin.

You have your users logged in and pointed at a course. How do you make that course as easy to navigate as possible.
Some people have a welcome course like Introduction to the site or Introduction to eLearning.
So you have things unlocking and available at the right time in the storyline.
So you don’t have users stuck at a dead end.
1st section
Sets out your mission.
May be too much but it’s clear in it’s point.
Not needed in the same way with Adapt modules.
Always open resources in a new window.
A nicely signposted start.
Far too often this is all a learner sees when they click to enter the form.
Surely this is better
It’s just a case of making good use of the description box.
It’s just a case of making good use of the description box.
When I was in my course page I copied the address
Then I clicked on advanced options and pasted it here
Clear, open guidance.
We need to take it further.
What happens when we click and enter the quiz?
What we see often – no info for the user once they enter the quiz
Good clear info
We could also mention what passing the quiz unlocks if we wanted.
Many people miss out the Description box when setting up a quiz. It’s really important.
The feedback doesn’t stand out.
There is no obvious route back to the course.
You need to jazz it up and add a way back.
You need to jazz it up and add a way back.
This is the standard view.
Give you this.
Or it could be a link back to the homepage if you wish, or another course entirely.
Take 2 minutes in the set up
Or get your kids to test it. They’ll soon let you know if it’s rubbish.
