2. Hi, my name is Constance, I am a 10 year girl from the Netherlands. The Netherlands is a
small country in Europe, also known as Holland.
3. I live with my Dad, Mum and two brothers in a terraced house. This is a family home,
two or three storeys high, with a front and back garden, adjoined by two, three or
more identical homes. Since space is limited in the Netherlands, many people live in
low or high-rise flats.
This is my bedroom

4. For Breakfast I usually eat bread, cheese and ham. We often eat bread at lunch time and
stews and meat and vegetables for dinner. We also eat Pancakes with lots of different
toppings are also very common. After breakfast I get dressed and I head off to school for
the day.
5. Most Netherlanders wear clothing that is
the same as people wear in the United
States and Canada.
People on farms and in fishing villages
sometimes wear klompen, which are the
famous Dutch wooden shoes.
Even though the shoes are noisy, they
protect our feet from damp earth better
than leather shoes do. We never wear our
wooden shoes in our homes. We leave
them outside and change into leather
shoes.
II am wearing
klompen’s
“Clogs” Dutch
shoes made of
wood.
6. At school I learn lots of different things. Besides learning Dutch, children in the
Netherlands learn to speak another language. We also speak English and German
or French. School usually finishes around 3pm then I head home or go to soccer
practise.
7. My favourite sport is soccer. I play on a team
with some of my friends.
After Soccer training, I head home on my bike
for dinner. Most people in the Netherlands
ride bikes.
8. My favourite celebration is Easter time. At Easter children in the Netherlands play a
game where they bump Easter eggs together and see which one breaks first.
9. I hope you have enjoyed learning about my life in the Netherlands.
“Vaarwel”
Good-bye
