There are few terms, which we can call “ART”:

3. LITERATURE
The main direction of literature in XX century was Modernism. Modernism is
characterized by a break with the traditional styles of poetry and prose. The
modernist literary movement was driven by a desire to overturn traditional modes
of representation and express the new sensibilities of the time. Many wonderful not-
modernist novels were written.

4. ARCHITECTURE
Modernism and Postmodernism was manifested in architecture. Modernism
emerged as a reaction against the world before First World War.
Stylistically Modernism was functional, drawing upon objects that were designed
for a specific purpose such as an attempt to enrich Modern architecture. Many
shopping malls and office complexes used this style.

5. MUSIC “BRITISH INVASION”
The British Invasion was a phenomenon that occurred in the mid 1960s when a
group of rock and pop music acts from the United Kingdom became popular in the
United States. Bands such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones would get their
start during this time and go on to make a lasting impact on the American music
scene.
• The Beatles (1960-1970) were the most commercially successful and critically
acclaimed act in the history of popular music.
• The Rolling Stones (1962- present time) are an English rock band formed in
London.

6. CINEMA
British cinema have always been a little bit separately from the rest of Europe.
Special importance in the late 50's and early 60's played a commercial British
film, which was based on the detective genre, including the following novels of
Agatha Christie's Poirot and Miss Marple and the famous James Bond movies.

7. DRAWING
• Vorticism was a short-lived modernist movement in British art of the early 20th
century. (Wyndham Lewis)
• English style of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism (Harold Gilman, Spencer
Gore)

8. DRAWING
In the 1950s, the London based Independent Group formed; from which pop art
emerged.

9. CONCLUSION
Cultural figures and achievements made ​in the 20th century, certainly deserve
attention.
Culture of England at that time had a significant impact on world culture.
