Communication within Elluminate Chat message to entire room or individuals - instructor sees all of the messages to entire rooms and individuals Blue door when you are not present Microphone when you are speaking – like a walkie-talkie Raise your “hand” symbol so you can have permission to speak in microphone

Other Useful Features on Elluminate You can choose layout of whiteboard to fit your screen under View Laser pointer is used to point out important information – each person can use a laser on a screen number of activities you can do with this point out where they are located or point out important information

Instructor/Student View Students can be working on an activity in Elluminate while teacher works with a person one-on-one Instructor can work with individual students publicly or privately Different uses for each Activities can be done anonymously or with names as a class Low levels of accountability and embarrassment vs. high levels of accountability
6. Clip Art within Elluminate Focus of the session was on clipart for Elluminate and interactive whiteboards Clip art – ideal for visual learners in class Elluminate has pre-loaded clipart – each student can bring in images
7. Student Pics You can have students pictures uploaded – use them for introductions, grouping students (see who is in their group) Students upload picture at beginning of class and then you upload it into clipart (sized them down, and put a box around the picture)
8. Using Clip Art in Elluminate or on Interactive White Boards Images copied to give them a quick reminder of where to go (Elluminate features, Microsoft tools) Catchy examples for first slide as they come into class
9. Math ClipArt Calculator –different brands that your students would use coins (ESL students, foreign language) graphs and number lines
