DNA Profiling



         When a crime occurs, forensics take actions to know who was the guilty of the victim. In
order to do this, they use a technique known as DNA Profiling. It consists of collecting different
samples of blood, hair, saliva, semen, and body tissues in the crime scene, and also from the
suspects. Then, the DNA is extracted from the cells of these samples to use it in PCR. In forensic
PCR, it is used restriction enzymes indeed of polymers to cut at different places of the DNA. In an
agarose gel the DNA fragments are run, and then the pattern of their distribution is analyzed. We
practiced DNA Profiling, using samples of the crime scene and from 5 suspects. We used the
process of gel electrophoresis and looked at the distribution pattern of the DNA fragments. It was
observed that the fourth suspect showed a fragment of the same size and thickness, and the
distance between the bases was also the same as compared to a crime scene fragment.
