10. Summary
This school is very exemplary and they have a very exemplary media center to go with it. In every class that the media specialists teach,
they show students how to be independent researchers. They show them reliable resources that they have pulled, but they also show them
how to weed through resources to find reliable ones.
For any classes that come into the media center, the media specialists collaborate or share their input on classroom instruction.
Most of the classes and resources the media specialists show students include different types of resources, mostly technology resources
because they reach so many different learning styles and needs.
The media specialists are very involved in the reading program. There are several programs such as Reader’s Rally, Reader’s Club, etc.

The county policy for employees says that for as big as the school is (around 3,500 students), there should be 2 media specialists and a clerk.
This is normal policy, but many schools around the county have had to do without an extra media specialist and/or a media clerk.
Brookwood is very lucky in that the principal recognizes the importance of the media center to the support of the curriculum throughout the
school.
Since there is so much support in the media center, media specialists are free to visit classrooms or computer labs while there is support in
the media center.
Technology is definitely not scarce in this school. There is an interactive white board in every classroom and video streaming is used in all
classrooms that wish to use it. The media center has its own website that is accessible from home where databases and preselected resources
that are available online are found.
The media committee was surprisingly very helpful when creating policies. They had a lot of input and meetings are very lively and
interactive.
The media specialists consistently attend conferences and put the ideas they learned into action. They take having a current and modern
media center seriously, but have fun with it.
