 Joomla! will no longer support these versions

Joomla! 1.6/1.7 – What changed?

The most exciting features that were included with
the 1.6 / 1.7 release were:
 Complete ACL Security (where you can create
groups to edit specific areas of your website)
 Multi-nested categories (removed sections)
 Template styles (easy way to create different
versions of templates)

Joomla! 2.5

 Current release
 Similar to functionality in 1.6/1.7
 Long-term release that will be supported for at
least 18 months

Joomla! 2.5 – What’s new?

Contains all the functionality from 1.5 plus all new features from
1.6 and 1.7.
 Menu item parameter "Note"
 Joomla! update notification button in the Quick Icons module
 Option to set Joomla! to Site Offline (YES) during installation
 Adds a true autoloader to the CMS
 Database Version Check
 Adds ability to use the images and URL fields to create simple
standardized layouts
 Captcha in the core
 Finder integration
