Educational Objectives
To equip civil engineers with the practical abilities to be able to
undertake design and construction work as well as consultancy work.
A further aim of the course is to enable graduates to continue their
studies to MSc or PhD level.
General Course Description
The course focuses on the unseen aspects of building design.
Students study building construction but don’t spend so much time on
drawing and artistic work. Instead, they focus more on important
areas such as foundations, structure, public utilities (pipes, sewers
etc). Computer Aided Design (CAD) is an increasingly important part
of the course.
Methods of Teaching
Students attend traditional lectures, complete practical assignments
in laboratories and work with other students in small project groups.
Students may also go on study trips abroad, attend surveying camps
or undertake case studies of Hungarian or foreign construction
projects.
Fields of Study
As a part of their studies, students gain a solid knowledge of
mathematics and mechanics, geotechnics, methods of production,
business and private enterprise, and technical management. Either
Business English and Technical English or Business German and
Technical German are compulsory modules.
