After ABC, there's D Conference Plan
1.
2. Begin by giving out “Children and the ABCs.” (Slide 3) Walk through this information sheet. Calling attention to the Scriptures used in the ABCs (Slides 4-8).
3. Go over all the pieces of “Leading a Child to Christ Training Pack.” Give each person a copy of “Leading a Child to Christ” (for adults), one of the ABCs of Becoming a Christian booklets (HCSB or KJB) (Slides 9-12).
4. Call attention to the witnessing items in VBS 2010 and Club VBS 2010 and to the LOBL items related to the ABCs. Suggest that helping children know how to become Christians is not just a VBS initiative, but an everyday command from Jesus to go and make disciples (Slides 13-14).
5. Each child who responds to the Holy Spirit’s conviction of sin, and accepts Jesus as his Savior, deserves our best help beginning his walk with Christ (Slide 15).
6. Think back to your conversion. Think about your journey as a disciple (Slides 16-20). Take a few minutes to talk with a partner about how you learned to be a disciple of Christ. Did you go to a study? Have a mentor? Go to class?
7. Share personal journey of discipleship.Jesus told us to go and make disciples. We need to take that seriously with the girls and boys who make a profession of faith in VBS.
8. The dictionary tells us that the word disciple means “learner” or “pupil.” It goes on to say that the people Jesus called to follow Him during His earthly ministry are called disciples. When girls and boys confess Jesus as their Savior at VBS, our responsibility is to disciple them—to help them know what it means to live the Christian life. Part of that process includes baptism, the Lord’s Supper, learning how to study the Bible, attending church, having a quiet time, and beginning to serve others. Talk about reasons for discipleship for children.
9. Let’s look at some items we can use to disciple new Christians.
