2. A newspaper is a regularly scheduled
publication containing news, information,
and advertising, usually printed on relatively
inexpensive, low-grade paper (newsprint).

3. Newspapers typically publish:
• stories on local and national political events and
personalities, crime, business, entertainment,
society and sports;
• breakthroughs in science or technology
• an editorial page;
• reviews of movies, plays and restaurants;
• advice, food and other columns;
• advertising, comic strips;
• entertainment features such as crosswords,
sudoku and horoscopes;
• weather news and forecasts.

4. Advertising
• The portion of the newspaper that is not
advertising is called editorial content,
editorial matter, or simply editorial.

5. Journalism
• Since newspapers began as a journal
(record of current events), the profession
involved in the making of newspapers
began to be called journalism.

supposed to be resourceful in order to
gain access credible sources of
information and to gain success to all

2. Critical- in order to separate truth
from propaganda and dogmas that
may distort truth.

personal biases and should not let his emotions
cloud his judgment.
4. Conscientious- a journalist is not supposed to
use his influence in order to meet personal
objectives and should be well aware of the
