Galicia is a region in northwest Spain known for its coastline and Celtic heritage. The historic town of Santiago de Compostela is the destination of the famous pilgrimage route, the Camino de Santiago. Pilgrims have walked to Santiago de Compostela for over a thousand years to visit the cathedral which is believed to hold the remains of the apostle Saint James.
