Established in 2007, Designated Drivers is the only service in the area that offers rides home for restaurant and bar patrons as an inexpensive, safe alternative to drunk driving. This unique service uses the customer’s own car and is similar to a bike messenger service.
At this time, Designated Drivers services three areas in and around Denver. These areas include lower downtown Denver, the Denver Technological Center (DTC), and a portion of north Denver. Detailed service area maps are available on our “Maps” page. The service runs Thursday-Saturday 6 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 6 p.m. to midnight. Service charges are $3 per mile for the first five miles and additional distance is $0.30 per quarter mile.
Designated Drivers provides safety that is unique to the public transportation industry by offering door-to-door service without the need to retrieve a vehicle at a later time. Driver teams meet customers at their location and while one driver follows, the other takes the customer home in his or her own car.
Besides offering an alternative to drunk driving, Designated Drivers frequently supports programs that help educate the public about the risks associated with drunk driving. The brochure is an educational material to be used primarily in our media kits but could also be used as advertising copy in and around the Denver area. Besides educational information about the dangers of drunk driving, this informational packet contains all the information pertinent to our business including contact information, service areas, hours of operation, and costs. I have also included three pieces of copy for the web. The first is for placement on the online sports section of Denver area news websites. Its purpose is to raise awareness of our business to those who may be frequenting sports bars. The second is for placement on college websites in the Denver, Boulder, Ft. Collins, and Greeley areas. The purpose here is again, to raise awareness of our business but to a different market segment. Finally, the third is for placement on the online society pages of the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News. The purpose is to garner interest and attendance to our event where future customers can learn more about us. Please review and submit your changes and/or suggestions. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Lisa Jorgensen
