2. History Sigma SigmaSigma was founded at Longwood College in Farmville, Virginia on April 20, 1898. The eight founders were Margaret Batton, Louise Davis, Martha Trent Featherston, Isabella Merrick, Sallie Mitchie, Leila Scott, Elizabeth Watkins and Lucy Wright.

4. Philanthropy The Robbie Page Foundation focuses on supporting play therapy for terminally ill children, and providing support for playrooms, libraries, and programs for children undergoing long-term hospital care. Current national efforts are centered in funding fellowships at the Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and in funding graduate assistantships at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
5. Famous Sigmas American Idol winner, Carrie Underwood, is a Sigma at Northern Oklahoma. The creator of care bears, Linda Denham, is a Tri-Sigma. (She dedicated the Harmony Bear to Sigma) Billie Letts is a Tri-Sigma and she wrote the book “Where the Heart Is”. Jennifer Blackburn Dunn is a member of US Representatives – Washington.
6. Tri- Sigma Facts Tri Sigma was the first NPC sorority in Alaska, and currently the only sorority with two chapters in the state. Tri Sigma was the first sorority to establish an international chapter outside of North America. Tri Sigma was the first NPC organization to install a deaf chapter. The Epsilon Psi Chapter at Rochester Institute of Technology was installed in 1991. Tri Sigma is the only sorority to have created their own philanthropy, the Robbie Page Memorial. Tri Sigma was the first sorority to adopt a zero-tolerance hazing policy. Sigma SigmaSigma is the first sorority to have an alumnae key contact in Antarctica. The play atriums featured in the movie Patch Adams were funded by Tri Sigma.
