CLASSICAL PILATES
Peak Pilates®
embraces the classical method of Pilates. Our philosophy, based on the traditional work
of Joseph Pilates, is guided by a focus on uniform development and conditioning the body, mind and
spirit through movement–as opposed to enforcing rigid and non-functional positions. We believe in
the systematic, sequential order of exercises that makes Pilates so effective. Exercises are linked by
transitions to flow seamlessly, with a unique and dynamic rhythm. This classical approach, coupled with
Peak Pilates’ high-quality and innovative equipment, allows for positive, successful Pilates experiences
for both instructors and clients of all conditions and from all populations.

MAT PILATES
Mat classes are a great way to launch a Pilates program because they do not require dedicated space
and can act as a “feeder” into fee-based reformer group classes or private Pilates training. Mat
classes are typically free and assist with member retention. By adding mat Pilates programming to your
schedule, you can introduce members of all fitness levels to the Pilates principles, and to the mind/body
benefits of the method.
Foundation
Mat work is the foundation of Pilates, and is
an integral part of all Pilates programming.
It is a beautifully balanced sequence that
Joseph Pilates developed before he created
any equipment.
Equipment
Mat classes require no equipment, but props
such as balls, the power circle, bands and
rollers are popular and add variety.
Instructor Training
The Mat Certification Program is delivered
in a modular format and provides a solid
foundation of the classical exercises, while
developing the tools necessary to progress
group classes safely and effectively in a
health club or studio setting.
Programming
Basic, intermediate and advanced Pilates mat
classes can be offered, and can incorporate
small props such as the power circle, balls,
bands and rollers to add challenge and
variety. Pilates mat programming can even
be specialized for special population classes,
such as Pilates for Golf, Pilates for Sports
Performance or Pilates for Seniors.

a source of

thoughtful, confident and responsible leaders in the Pilates community. We encourage students to
develop their own style that blends their natural talents, unique skills and individual creativity with
intimate knowledge of the standards, precision and technique that make Pilates so effective.
We teach how to teach, not just what to teach. Our philosophy is grounded in the classical Pilates method
and a systematic training approach that’s proven to create excellent instructors. Classical Pilates is
rhythmic, fluid and focused—connecting one movement to the next to build greater strength, flexibility
and endurance. We refine it with sequencing that builds a Pilates body with maximum efficiency. We

as an instructor.
All certification programs are offered through a modular educational pathway, allowing instructors to

GLOBAL NETWORK
THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR
PROGRAMS
Peak Pilates®
Master Instructors represent a variety of disciplines and training backgrounds and their
success as educators comes from their ability to teach students through the wisdom and skill they have
amassed through their years of experience and study. Spanning the globe, speaking over 13 languages
and representing 16 countries, the depth and technical expertise of the team who create and deliver the
programs is impressive. We’re always grateful and amazed at the “common language” Pilates allows
us to share with so many worldwide.
It’s important to note that the heart and soul of the education programs belong to our team of Master
Instructors, who together bring over 70 years of combined experience in the Pilates and fitness
industries. Challenged to create a new paradigm for classical Pilates education that would demystify
the often-misunderstood system and deliver it in an accessible format, the dynamic team got to work.
Their diverse skills and backgrounds enabled them to mesh their talents with the end goal of helping
students advance to their full potential. Proprietary teaching methodologies were developed that allow
participants to identify and address any weak areas of their teaching. Professional development was a
primary focus with an emphasis on teaching new instructors how to teach, and not just what to teach.
Additionally, it was important to add the latest in science and anatomy to create a deeper understanding
of the integrated and systematic approach. Today, from lesson plans to instructor manuals, the Team
continues to refine the programs based on student feedback and practical application, while looking
toward the future to meet the needs of our ever-changing industry.

MAT CERTIFICATION
The Peak Pilates®
Mat Certification Program provides a solid foundation in
the classical mat exercises, while delivering the tools necessary to progress
individual clients and group classes safely and effectively in a health club
or studio setting. The program teaches the introductory through advanced
exercises, while layering in building blocks, modifications and exercise
guidelines designed to make more confident and effective teachers. Students
are coached to effectively communicate and teach the exercises in a dynamic
and impactful format.
Certification for each level requires attending all course hours, completing
logged hours and earning passing scores on assessments. Maintaining
certification requires earning a minimum of 14 CECs every two years or
advancing to the next level.
BASIC MAT
47.5 HOURS: 17.5 course hours | 30 logged hours
This introductory-level course teaches the foundations of Pilates with an
examination of how to execute the exercises, as well as an introduction to
teaching the classical form of Pilates in a very clear and concise manner.
This course also introduces the Peak Pilates 5-Part Formula for Success—a
tool to help you develop to your full potential as a Pilates instructor.
INTERMEDIATE MAT
47 HOURS: 17 course hours | 30 logged hours
The second level of the Mat Certification program is an intensive course
adding breadth and depth to Basic Mat. New vocabulary and exercises
are introduced as well as a more in-depth examination of the underlying
principles for the exercise orders and progressions. Key concepts are
introduced that will facilitate teaching and understanding of the classical
work. We delve deeper into effective touch techniques, imagery cues and how
to enhance movement quality. General dos and don’ts and contraindications
for all exercises are covered as well as strategies for class setup, cueing,
correcting and touch.
COURSE MATERIALS
Course Prep Packets
These informative packets help students prepare for courses
with pre-workshop assignments, course agendas, charts for
tracking logged hours and assessment criteria.
Instructor Manual
The Peak Pilates Mat Instructor Manual is designed to
be progressive and used throughout all three levels. The
Intermediate and Advanced components are added to the
Basic manual, resulting in one complete manual instead of
three separate manuals at the end of your program.
Instructor Education DVDs
The Peak Pilates Instructor Education Mat DVDs are designed
to help Pilates teachers gain the skills they need to execute and
teach the basic through intermediate classical mat exercises
in a clear and concise manner.
Workout DVDs
Peak Pilates Master Instructors guide you through a two-
part classical workout consisting of a 30-minute mat routine
with an emphasis on flow and transitions, and a 10-minute
arm weight series. Other chapters include Key Concepts and
Fundamentals, as well as a drill designed to practice exercise
orders and flow.
ADVANCED MAT
46 HOURS: 16 course hours | 30 logged hours
The final course of the Mat Certification program builds upon
the Pilates foundation established in Basic and Intermediate
Mat. The course includes advanced exercises and a focus on
how to break down and progress the exercises to suit your
students’ needs. The training also covers refining touch
techniques, teaching methodology, imagery, progression and
special populations as well as how to design a progressive mat
course for a fitness facility or studio. Instructors also learn to
train their eye to see subtle alignment issues and deepen their
understanding of the relationship between the exercises.

the competitive athlete. The certification pathway comprises three levels and
culminates with a comprehensive assessment. During each level, students
complete course contact hours as well as observation, personal practice and
teaching hours, for a cumulative total of 500 hours.

“I’m intense in everything I do. I love things fast-paced and powerful, and I love
Pilates. I began my Peak training several years ago, intending to add it to my
portfolio of skills. It is now a central part of everything I do! I have learned to
focus my mind and center my thoughts when I have a challenge to deal with. I use
the training on myself for good functional posture as well as proper form during
workouts. The precision and depth Peak emphasizes have transformed all aspects
of my teaching.”

QUALITY. DURABILITY.
INNOVATION.
At Peak Pilates®
, we are committed to preserving the integrity and genius of Joseph Pilates’
original equipment designs while integrating them with today’s technology. The result is a compatible
family of equipment—from classic hand-crafted wood and sustainable bamboo to a new breed of
advanced designs—that delivers enhanced product performance, flow, versatility and safety, and just
as important, a superior Pilates workout.
Each piece of equipment is meticulously designed and precision-built to exacting tolerances, with every
unit being tested for performance and durability, then backed by the strongest warranty in the industry.
But isn’t that what you’d expect from the company dedicated to setting the standard by which all Pilates
equipment is measured?
What Makes it Uniquely Peak?
Quality Construction
Located in Longmont, Colorado, we are the
only major manufacturer to use solid wood on
our studio reformers. Our mortise and tenon
construction is far superior to dowel pins or metal
fasteners. Our method turns out equipment that’s
crafted like fine furniture and designed to last
a lifetime. To ensure a satin smooth finish our
craftsmen apply up to three sandings and coats
of environmentally friendly, water-based lacquer.
Attention to Detail
Our unique hinged carriages are constructed
from 13-ply Baltic birch with hardwood veneers
throughout, shoulder pads conform to ensure
full comfort and support for both reclining
and standing positions, and our machines are
completely finished, top to bottom. You will never
see a staple.
Equipment Options
We provide bundled and unbundled accessory
packages that give studios and facilities
competitive pricing options.
Committed to Sustainable Materials
We are dedicated to working towards delivering
sustainable options and lowering our carbon
footprint. From our current line of bamboo
equipment to finishing lacquers, Peak Pilates
promotes sustainability through actions and
accessibility, making it available to all our
clients.
Innovation
Our technologically-advanced metal line features
stackable and portable equipment inspired from
the traditional wood designs. The space-saving
capability is perfect for small studios, busy
facilities, group classes and much more. This line
maintains Peak Pilates’ dedication to the highest
standard of quality, feel and performance in a
sleek, modern and cost-effective way.

CLASSICAL LINE
During World War I Joseph Pilates was stationed at an internment camp in England. In an effort to fend
off illnesses, he used hospital beds and springs to develop light resistance exercises which he taught to
the patients, sparking his idea to develop equipment to use in support of his methodology. He called it
“contrology,” which is known today as Pilates. Our classical line is built true to Joseph Pilates’ original
design and specifications. Often regarded as authentic or traditional, this equipment allows for the body
to move through the classical flow and perform the original exercises as developed by Joseph Pilates.
The full range of apparatus includes the reformer, cadillac, wunda chair, high/low combo chair and high
ladder barrel as well as additional auxiliary equipment and accessories such as the spine corrector,
ped-o-pull and foot corrector.
All of our products in the classical line are constructed with hand-crafted wood or sustainable bamboo
in Longmont, Colorado.

“When I decided to open my studio, there was no doubt as to which reformers I would purchase.
The wood studio reformers have proven to be a great investment. They are so well-built and
durable, I know they’ll last forever! They really are fine pieces of furniture. For me, the wood
reformers honor Pilates’ history and helps to preserve the integrity of the work as Joe intended.
If Joe was alive today, I’d be thrilled for him to see the Peak wood reformers in my studio!”

is the only major manufacturer to offer premium solid oak standard on all reformer
frames, plus bamboo or hardrock maple upgrade at an affordable price. Every Peak Pilates frame
receives up to three sandings and three coats of environmentally friendly, water-based lacquer. We
utilize mortise and tenon frame joinery, far superior to dowel pins or metal fasteners, resulting in
equipment that’s crafted like fine furniture and designed to last a lifetime.
Bamboo is classified as a rapidly renewable material and is considered to be one of the greenest
materials today. All Peak Pilates wood equipment, with the exception of our Sportsmed®
Reformer,
is available in amber and natural bamboo. Using waterborne lacquers and powder-coated finishes
in our manufacturing reduces VOC emissions. Peak Pilates uses select bamboo, harvested and

OPTIONS & CUSTOMIZATIONS
CARRIAGE CONSTRUCTION
Foot bar and gear/spring system: Our durable, nickel plated springs with tapered ends are made of the highest quality music wire. The
Premier Reformer comes standard with a five-spring system: two light (blue), two medium (yellow), one heavy (red).
The classical design of our four-position, anodized aluminum foot bar allows you to transition easily between exercises by simply
kicking down the support bar. All foot bars come standard with our padded deluxe wraparound cover.
We are so certain of the durability of our equipment that we are pleased to offer a lifetime warranty on all wood equipment.
Contact us at: Call (1) 800.925.3674 or (1) 310.823.7008, or email sales@peakpilates.com. For sales outside of the U.S. and Canada.
email us at international@peakpilates.com for a quote.
Our carriages are constructed from 13-ply Baltic birch with hardwood veneers throughout, creating
a dimensionally stable platform resulting in enhanced performance ride quality. Sculpted, contoured
shoulder pads conform to the shoulders ensuring comfort, as well as full support for both reclining
and standing positions. The quick-conversion hinged carriage with no detachable parts allows for
easy transition between modes.
EXCLUSIVE ULTRA-GLIDE TRACKING SYSTEM
Delivering the industry’s smoothest, quietest and best-aligned ride, our eight-wheel carriages have two bearings
per wheel for reliable load handling capability. All bearings are sealed so that no lubrication is required for the
life of the wheel. No side wheel adjustment needed.
The positioning of the horizontal tracking wheels are individually adjusted to match the carriage to its respective
frame, eliminating free play. Anodized aluminum tracks are used to inhibit the build-up of unsightly aluminum
oxide residue and enhanced durability. Five carriage stop positions are located at the end head of the frame to
limit carriage travel.

CLASSIC RESISTANT RIDE
Create a custom, classic feel with our new resistant ride upgrade. The wheels create the resistance that
requires the user to push and pull through the exercise. Maintenance-free bushings mean a wheel with no
grease and no mess that provides a superior ride and feel.
The kit also includes four traditional springs designed for a smooth feel to experience optimum flow and
movement with no limitation. Unique spring curve allows for full exercise completion.
*Kit includes four wheels and four springs. Springs and wheels can be sold separately. Both items can be
retrofitted to your existing Peak Pilates®
equipment.

MOVEMENT LINE
In 2006 we developed an innovative, cutting-edge metal line of equipment to support the emerging
popularity and growth of Pilates. With the intention to make Pilates accessible, space-saving and
cost-effective, we created the movement line–our technologically-advanced metal line that features
stackable and portable equipment inspired from the traditional wood designs while maintaining the
highest standard of quality. We envisioned this versatile, fitness-focused line as the perfect solution
for group equipment classes, small studios, health clubs and other facilities of the like, while still
upholding the core Pilates principals.
In addition to the equipment, specific Pilates-based group reformer and chair programming was
developed by Peak Pilates®
instructors and educational developers that are classically trained, giving
these programs credibility and integrity.
We offer a variety of options in this line from our fit™ reformer that stacks both horizontally and on
end, to our Peak PilatesSystem®
Deluxe, the only reformer and tower solution on the market that folds
up for easy storage.
